IRWIN12001ZR Tap Wrench #0-1/4" T-Handle

The tool is good quality and is a good value. I made a mistake in sizing though. I bought this wrench for a tap whose shank is 0.235" square. It happens to be an M8 tap. However, this 0.235" shaft is way too big for this tool. I see now that the tool is sized for an actual 1/4" tap, whose shank is smaller than 1/4". The description says "1/4-inch capacity", but buried below it also says #0-1/4". Probably not saying "1/4-inch capacity" and only saying #0-1/4" would be more clear. Hope this helps someone.

This tap handle held the tap securely, it was easy to use and turn the tap. The sliding bar at the top made it easy to use when there wasn't much clearance.

The tool was sticking out of its factory packaging, about half way - with a little rust on the threaded section - used a wire brush to clean the rust off the threads then coated with light oil ....good as newOther than that, well made and sturdy

This is a tap handle and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Fit and finish is nice, great value for the money and I never question grabbing it when it’s needed.

It will not hold the taps tightly. When you try tightening, the threads slip and it gets loose again. Not worth returning...

Seems like a well-built tool and simple to use but it does not take 1/4" tap bases. No way to fit a 1/4" tap into it, so worthless for 90% of my taps. Too bad. They should send me one that's larger and does what it advertised.

I assume this is fine for taps larger than M3, but will have virtually no clamping force for Irwin M3 taps.

The tap handle does hold small taps. There is a smaller grip recessed inside the tap for the small taps. At first I though it was not good, but looking closer I saw the smaller grip. Holds tight and works like a charm.

This broke straight away it’s cheap and it’s brittle the threads broke already , and I can’t return it , cheap China made product
