Okay but Not Worth $50
The build was fun, but the overall result was kind of bland. There aren't very many play features, and the Te Fiti/Ta Kā play feature and build are especially bland and disappointing. Still, you get some very nice pieces and cool figures.

Great Lego fun for Moana fans to build and play
This is a fun set of Moana-themed Legos. The build is in three pieces: voyaging canoe (complete with sail), Te Fiti island, and a working catapult. It comes with Moana minifigure (in the style of the Friends Legos rather than the standard block style), a large Maui figure and the rooster Heihei the rooster. There are lots of little elements for play, like an oar which can be used in Moana's hand or on the side of the canoe. There are two Kakamora for catapult action and the island of Te Fiti has the ability to transform (by spinning). There are a few decals to place but nothing extreme. A number of the pieces are pre-printed as well. The kit took a couple of hours to build and has a lot of tiny pieces (flowers, etc.) It holds together well and can be played with after it is completed.

Moana was such a great movie that...
I figured I'd get the 2 Moana lego sets (this one and 41149) for my little niece and nephew to enjoy! I love that it comes with great characters (Moana, Maui, and Hay Hay the rooster, plus a couple coconut characters).I really thought the boat was neat. The kids thought it was great that you could store food inside. There's plenty of room for all 3 characters to fit on board. The little island is fun because you can put the stone on the "evil" volcano part and spin it around to make it "good" or "happy" again kind of like the Disney movie!Anybody will love this set!

This set was fantastic. We gave it to my 7 year old for her birthday. She sat down and completed it by herself. This was her first set! It was great the way they packaged it in steps. They didn't do that when we were kids!! My daughter liked how you could switch to ti fiti and that the boat had a storage area!

if you're child really loves Moana and Legos, this set is perfect..if not then its a little too pricey IMO
I got this as a xmas gift for my 4 yo daughter and she loved it. we put it together and i helped with some of the smaller pieces and tricky designs. It was fun to put together and it definitely feels true to the movie. They even included that funny little chicken. nice touch. As an AFOL, there are some problems with the set. For starters, its overpriced. You get Moana and Maui and their boat...and that's pretty much it. The little island thing is nice, but seeing as its supposed to represent the oversized deities from the movies, it just doesnt work well. My daughter barely touched that part, it was all about Moana and Maui. I also was not a fan of his brick-built hook. fell apart to easily on my daughter and it really doesnt resemble the hook from the movie. Now I know some people will look at the part count and say that 300 pieces for $30 is about average but A LOT of the pieces are small and 1x1 studs.bottom line this a good set for an avid fan of Moana and lego. My girl wanted it for xmas so i didnt mind the increased price but any other time of year we would have passed on it. its nice to get Moana and Maui and all, but $30 for 2 minifigs and a catamaran doesnt feel like a good value

Great for my 4yr old!
Purchased for my for my 4 year old, who has been begging for this for a while. She LOVES it. With very minimal assistance, she was able to put it together almost herself! There is a lot of peices and she got bored after putting the boat together. She didn't even make it to the island part before giving up. She has not returned to do that part either. That really isn't a problem with the toy, just part of being 4 I guess!

"You can play the whole Moana story with this set"
My grandaughter explained happily when she got this set as a 5th birthday present. There are a number of lego kits that allow building "sets" and characters from Disney animated children's stories.Despite the "6-12" age recommendation, my two 5 year old girls could do these types of Lego kits when about 41/2. This kit has specialized pieces, some quite small--and a large Maui, but non-readers can follow the instructions for first assembly. The specialized pieces are essential, so plan on keeping the kit in one or more re-salable plastic bags when not in active use to avoid losing essential parts.
