Bought some new ceiling fans and they required a 4” ceiling box. The existing boxes were only 2.5”, so I picked up some of these. Cheap and effective. Heavy duty and rated for ceiling fans. They come with all of the necessary hardware and good instructions. Just be aware that these are only .5” deep, so you’re not going to be able to stuff much of anything into them; for me, this wasn’t a big deal. It just meant trimming excess wire from my fan kit, so I could fit everything into the ceiling fan’s mount cover. The .5” depth was necessary for my install, however, since my home’s original fans were installed in beams that were flush against the upper surface of my ceiling drywall.

It is good if you have a stud to nail to. It is as described. Comes with screws.

East to install

It has 5 knock outs, it comes with four big wood screws to mount to a joist, it's very thin. Very good value for the money. Obviously you can't fit more than one (maybe two? check you codes) connections in it, but for a single fixture it works great.

I recently used this product to install a new fan on an exposed wooden beam. The local hardware stores carried shallow electrical boxes, but not fan weight rated ones - the difference is important - so I purchased this from Amazon. It was very well made and did the trick.

Great product, just as described and quality made, easily held up my fan's, I went in the attic and ran a 2x6 between the joists flat, and then screwed this in.
