Works as advertised!
I must admit. I don't like ivory color because it is too yellow-ish and has that age old dated look. Well, this knob design and color is not suited for more modern houses but if you have an old house and most other wall plates in the house have similar wall plates or other gang AC sockets in the house also has this age old Ivory/beige color then this is the only way to look consistent. Oh well...The product pictures does not show the guts or anything. I will try to explain what this is to best of my knowledge. This Lutron S2-LFSQ-IV contraption has three wires in the back. One AC Live in, Two variable line outs one for FAN, one for Light or similar loads. This occupies one gang also called "Rocker" "Paddle" on your existing wall plate AKA "Decora" Rocker Opening which is a "Leviton" company trademark name. If you are planning on adding this new, then for this ivory color controller reviewed here a Lutron Claro 1 Gang Decorator Wallplate, CW-1-IV, Ivory should be the matching claret wall plate (Lutron name) needed to complete the job.Anyways, colors and names aside, the electronics inside this Lutron controller is good. PS: There are two different circuits all sharing a common Live line (Neutral wire is not need as it is common to the loads) On the FAN side, it is "four set point switch" for OFF, Low, Medium, and High. The High position is mere direct connect to Live. The OFF position it disconnects the FAN or similar inductive load. BTW, It controlled the speed of the ceiling FAN just right and comfortably with no added hum or choppiness. For Low and Medium switch settings, It features two AC capacitors. Its circuitry is based on using age old "Capacitive Reactance" in a purely inductive load circuit with FAN being the load in series as the opposition to current flow in AC circuits unlike using resistors or SCR/TRIAC which would induce hum.On the other hand, the Light control slider switch has a TRIAC or similar device and the slider has a switch to turn the Lights off and the slider also is actually a Potentiometer that is used to vary the brightness of the bulbs on the circuit. No preset stop points. It dims or brightens as the lever freely slides. This TRIAC based dimmer circuit is positioned to control power to a load from an AC source. It does feature an inductor choke albeit a rather beefy one for some reason. This contraption can only deliver half-wave power or chopped power to the load, Thus, it does introduce soft hum (Humm may be from the Beefy choke), the TRIAC based dimmer works effectively in reducing the brightness of the bulb. Perfect for good old incandescent bulbs. Not suitable for LEDs unless they are marked clearly as "dimmable" but most LED bulbs unless designed exclusively to work with TRIAC or SCR based dimmers are questionable and might not work correctly and will start to flicker at low end. That does not necessarily mean the dimmer is defective.Granted, this is not cheap. But again, it does work as advertised and the quality is good worthy of five stars!

Replacement part
We have these throughout and I won’t use anything else. Light fan combo works well.

Good fan controller
I got this switch for a Hunter Summer Breeze Plus fan. The reviews here at Amazon of the Hunter dimmer/fan speed switches were generally negative (durability being the main complaint), and somebody mentioned using a Lutron switch instead. It works perfectly with this fan. Installation was easy and it is attractive. The light dimmer has a detent for the off position. The fan speed controller has detents for 3 speeds and off. The dimmer slide is a bit short, so it takes a delicate touch to adjust the light brightness. The fan speed detents are pretty soft and closely spaced, so a delicate touch is needed here as well. Hopefully, it is more durable than the Hunter switches. With the caveats mentioned above, I would recommend this switch. In purchasing a switch, it is important to match the switch to the fan; 3-speed fans may not work well with continuous-speed control switches. Also, as the directions say, set the fan at high speed (and leave it there) before installing the switch.

Decent, works okay with LED's
Works perfectly to control my fan (3 speed detents) and a smooth dimmer controls the lighting. I can verify that this DOES work with LED's. I'm using Soraa High-CRI "Vivid" series GU10 LED's and it does properly dim them, though the dimming range isn't quite as wide as I'd like--it dims to about 40% not the 10% I'd hoped for. Occasional flickers at low light levels, solved by making it slightly brighter. In all, it feels solid and works great. But since finding a true LED-specific single-space switch with lighting and fan controls is virtually impossible, this one will do for the time being.

Replaces an old Fan Control
I bought this to make a quick replacement of a broken ceiling fan and light control. The knobs are a little flimsy and can break off. I went with this model only because I was trying to make an in-place replacement. If you are starting fresh, I would choose another type of slider where the knobs are more firmly attached and where there is more surface for the knobs to attach to the sliders.

Had a older one that was great- Ordered this same exact one to replace!
Bought this as an exact replacement to an older light switch. My husband was able to connect this with no issue and it works like a charm. We had gone to walmart and home depot and could not find a switch to work with 3 wires. So we decided to order the exact same one as before. The older one had survived 7 years and 2 teenagers. So I will update if I have any issues with this one in the near future, but hoping it survives as long as the last one! (For anyone who would like to know the last one broke by just the push levers breaking off)
