Penn-Plax Aerating Action Ornament, Giant Clam – Opens and Closes | A for Any Aquarium Decor

This is a beautiful item. Specially if your'e going for either a vintage feel or a a fake salt water look. The colors pop and it opens and closes with the right air pressure making it sure to get peoples attention. My only complaint is that it could be heavier as it is very lightweight.

The media could not be loaded. My little clam only stays open, hence the four star review. It’s a lot larger than I thought it would be and the colors are very bright and cheerful. I think an improvement would be something on the bottom, like a suction cup. It would be very helpful since it has a tendency to float. For the price, you can’t beat it then it has a lot of personality to an aquarium. I recommend it. Hope it holds up…..

The media could not be loaded. Does not open is made very cheap its already peeling and im looking for a replacement as we speak i need it for my fish so I cant send it back it will find its way to the trash once i find a replacement

Excellent tank decoration

The media could not be loaded. Clam doesn’t have open shut action, no open close, but it’s very beautiful and peaceful. At time I bought the clam also bought Groot! He is Adorable!! His issue is he can’t stand on his feet, his head is too big and heavy! Prop him up and watch his bubbles go so fast, the elegant clam turns out in my opinion to be a great balance to this combo.

The media could not be loaded. Super cute and easy to install. We use it with our aerator and bubble wall light on a single air pump and manage to get the clam to burp every 8-10 seconds. Happy goldfishies.

The media could not be loaded. I've bought a few of these over the last couple years for the tank at the kids dental office where I work. Can be a bit tricky (at least it was for me) to set up. Also, if it gets 'off-track' it either won't open all the way or just give a constant stream of tiny bubbles without opening at all. The most important things that I have figured out are 1) you definitely need a regulator (mine is at the lowest possible amount of air going through, still lots of bubs) and 2) make sure the tiny air tube coming out of the back of the clam is not interfering with the opening/closing or it will go 'off-track'. This has been my most successful attempt so far, fingers crossed it keeps going, the kids at the office really enjoy watching it!

This is a very colorful addition to my tank. You need a valve to reduce the airflow otherwise your shell will never rise and fall. I have my airflow set to barely a trickle, so that the shell rises and falls every 2.5 minutes. Love it!
