Small and very easy to use with my projects
Small and very easy to use with my projects. It does use too much current for an Arduino board, but I drive it with a small relay and get MP3 tracks to play directly out of a small speaker. No amplifier required (in mono). This board is a very reasonable price.

Aggressive and Non-Smart Power Saving may Ruin your Application
This thing shuts off the power amp when the audio level is low, and it takes a fraction of a second to get the amp back on. the device does not seem to read ahead and anticipate to turn the amp on in time, so the beginning of the sound loop can get chopped off or sound strange. If you are using it to play back short sound effects separated by silence, or trying to play back morse code, you will have a serious problem. If you are just playing recorded voice you probably won't notice it.

Very good, easy to use, zero problems
Works way way better than the alternative MP3 module that looks similar that is also sold on Amazon. The DFPlayer is worth the wait. Serial interface was easy to use, sound output is good, no issues with this device whatsoever.

Used this in a pinewood derby car. The Digispark Arduino couldn't put out enough 5V amperage so also I had to use a separate voltage regulator. I removed the pins for a truly miniature MP3 player. You can also control it without an Arduino through use of push-button switches tied to ground.
