The Scottish cartographer James Gall published a scientific paper that included an image of his Gall Orthographic Projection in 1885. This idea was revolutionary at the time because it’s an equal-area projection that shows countries in the proper size and proportion to each other. Many popular modern maps continue to show large distortions in country size. For example, Greenland and Africa appear to be the same size on the Mercator projection, when in fast Africa is 14x larger than Greenland. There are other equal-area projections that used Gall’s math and marketed their maps throughout the years, but James Gall was first! Our map was plotted using Gall’s math then expertly designed to create the most legible version of this projection available. The labeling is detailed and clear. The design elements are classic and clean. The color palette is pleasing to the eye and country borders are easily identifiable. The map includes a relief layer that displays changes in topography and even ocean floor depths. We’re a family-run small-business and we sincerely appreciate you being our customer! How is my order shipped? Maps are shipped rolled, not folded.
