Q: What does is mean when it says standard payload is 6.5lb, max payload is 13lb. can it support 13lbs or 6.5lbs? i need to support about eight lbs.

The standard payload is up to 8.5 lb. Anything heavier up to 13 lb needs a counterweight of at least 2.2 lb hooked at the bottom of the center coulmn to be 100% stable. We apologize for the confusing description.

Q: Can it be used without the ball mount? To just be mounted with the screw and not have to mess around with leveling?

Yes, you can detach the ball head and mount your camera or or other gear directly on it.

Q: Is this sturdy enough to hold a heavy zoom lens like the Sigma 150-600mm?

I have a Nikon 200-500 Lens I’ve used with it but you have to have a lens that has its own threaded connector due to the weight imbalance instead of connecting with the camera.

Q: Is the screw adapter already included?

There was no adapter included for the monopod I ordered. You can order and pay separately.
