The book is a very important historical document obviously. What makes this edition special is the depth of the supporting texts which add greatly to the understanding of the main work.

Gutes Buch aber es ist dreckig angekommen mit schmutzigen seiten und hinten verknickt. Nicht so nice...

I think the layman interested in Mongolian history is better off skipping this and just reading Jack Weatherford’s ‘Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World’, which synthesizes this text with other more accurate historical understanding and is written in quite a captivating way. If you only read this you’d honestly be quite confused and probably bored. My favourite thing about this was mainly the gnarly Mongolian prose. Definitely feels like it’s more for scholars
