Just what we were looking for...
The media could not be loaded. We have a lot of books & needed a sturdy shelf to put them on. We had a wood bookcase that got wet when our basement got some water, & that bookcase had to be thrown out. I wanted something that had METAL legs, was off the floor a few inches so that if there was ever water again, we could mop up UNDER the bookshelf & would not have to toss it, as long as it was not sitting in water getting moldy & ruined. I wanted to be able to dust & mop or use vacuum attachments under the bookshelf too, for routine cleaning.I kept my eye out on Marketplace & all over online, but could not find what I wanted. I needed SMOOTH shelves so our books would not get indents on them from the metal bar type shelves many people were selling. I was beginning to think I was just going to have to ask hubby to put up some track type shelves on the wall, until I was clicking around on Amazon & found this bookshelf. It's hard to tell for sure what it will be like until you see it, but what a pleasant surprise. The shelves are nice & thick.. they are just like the shelves my hubby has out throughout our home & closets for storage, books, photos, etc. They are the type of shelves that are sold in the hardware store with the wall brackets, except you mount them to the bookshelf. They are NOT thin & flimsy, nor MDF.They feel sturdy & look it too.EVERY hole lined up PERFECTLY.ONE shelf had a very small scuff on it on the underside, but it is not noticeable at all. There were ZERO scratches on the frame pieces or other shelves.. NO dings... all in PERFECT condition, minus the one TINY scuff. It took me one Gray's Anatomy episode to assemble it, but I had to stop more than once to nurse a baby. I also used a power screwdriver w/a screwdriver bit, so that made up for baby's milk breaks. The directions were easy to follow & the included parts inventory section was VERY helpful. EVERY piece or bundle/ bag of pieces was all labeled. The shelves all have reinforced holes in them where the screws go into them. The first thing I did was count to make sure all of the screws, shelves, bars, etc were all they.. they WERE. Then I assembled it.The only part of assembly that had me scratching my head for a moment was the back support bars, until I realized I had to UNscrew the 2 side pieces (top & bottom piece) that were screwed together to assemble the sides of the bookshelf. Once I figured that out, it was easy peasy again. I had someone hold a few shelves up for me while I screwed them in, but I could have done it by myself had I not been juggling a baby too.I have all kinds of books, DVDs, CDs, a printer, & binders on the shelves & I STILL have room. I would have filled the bottom shelf too, but the baby has an uncanny knack for getting into EVERYTHING, so I have not yet decided what I will put on the bottom shelf, or if I will wait until the baby stops emptying the shelves. The bookshelf is STURDY. I would 100% anchor it to a wall though for extra stability, which I did. Actually, I suck at using wall anchors, & I put a few extra holes in my wall trying to mount them, but hubby was asleep, & I did NOT want to wait to be able to fill it up after I took the time to assemble it, so I finally got the wall anchors right. The bookcase comes with wall safety brackets & wall anchors (I upgraded the wall anchors, but used the included brackets), which was a HUGE BONUS, because nobody wants to have to run out to the store for brackets & wall anchors, which means having to wait to fill their new bookcase after they assemble it until after a trip to the store. The bookcase is light enough for me to carry around from room to room (though not super light & is a bit awkward because of how tall it is, but that is only because of how STURDY it is), though NOT flimsy, which I did carry it around trying to decide where I wanted to use it. I actually ended up using it on our office/school area instead of our basement once I saw how NICE it looks & how well it would fit right next to the computer desk. A bonus was that I could put the printer on the bookcase too.The dimensions are slightly over 12" between shelves, just about 70" tall, just about 31.5" wide, & just shy of 12" deep. This bookcase is so nice & matches any room in my home. I would love another one or two, but will have to go with something slightly smaller. I am going to look at other shelves offered from the same seller since the quality is so nice. After comparing prices for new & used bookshelves all over the internet, for the quality of this bookshelf & the fact that it's brand new, delivered for no extra cost, the price is good. Had I seen it first, without checking prices all over, I may have thought it was a bit high, but seeing the crazy prices people want for their beat up, used bookshelves & the cost of other new similar units, this bookshelf is a good deal. You don't have to buy any fabric bins for it to look nice & be functional, though they would look cute on this bookshelf.I RECOMMEND this shelving unit & am VERY pleased with it. I LOVE the look of it, & even better, LOVE that my books are all ORGANIZED again & out of plastic bins again. I WOULD purchase more of these, if I had the right spot to put them in, & will keep this shelf unit in mind for the future.

Good shelf for the $$
Just received and put together this shelf today. It's pretty simple to assemble, but very flimsy until you get the frame together and secured...and NOTE, there is no text in the instructions, so when assembling the frame, be sure you look at the front and back of the side pieces and make sure the extra holes on one side are all on the same side. Then you should have no problem. There is an extra screw in each bag of black screws so that's always nice. You can stabilize the piece to the wall (would suggest in areas prone to earthquakes because it's very tall). It's sturdy once assembled and for a rather narrow shelf, has lots of space for stuff since there are 6 shelves. The color is pretty red so if you're decor is brown, you might want to find another shelving unit. That's the only thing I'm disappointed about, but I like the rustic pattern on the print. It's not wood so don't use outdoors, as the press board will expand. Overall, thumb's up!

The bookcase I've always wanted to be able to buy
I have always been frustrated with the quality of IKEA-style all-particle-board bookcases, which are easy to damage during assembly, especially if you don't have help, and for which it's easy to lose the pins that hold up the low-quality shelves. I've always thought a metal-frame bookcase would be better, but the ones I've purchased in the past have been difficult to assemble with poor quality control. This bookcase, on the other hand, can be easily assembled by a single person, and is very sturdy and not susceptible to damage. There were a couple minor problems I ran into, however, though they don't change the 5 star rating; anyone can see and adapt to them. The very minor one was that sometimes, the holes weren't fully punched, but you can easily finish the job by pushing your screwdriver through. Second, the long screws that are supposed to be used to connect the bars at the back of the bookcase to the sides of the bookcase don't actually work; I had to use some of the shorter screws, as the long ones don't go in all the way. The short screws seem to be fine in terms of keeping the bookcase sturdy. I then had to use one long screw for four of the shelves, which is only a minor cosmetic effect; just don't drive the long screw all the way into the shelf, as it will push through the top.

Easy to build
Good bookshelf. It is quick and easy to assemble. Pretty sturdy and came with brackets to brace against the wall. The shelves were veneered on all sides and edges so I didn’t have to worry about which edge faces the wall or side faced up.My cat loves it and so do my plants.

Liked it so much we bought 2 of them!
We bought one of these and liked it so much we bought a second one to match. These shelves are sturdy, made well and look very nice. They have a rustic / industrial look to them and are finished very nicely. They weren't too hard to assemble. We are using them to hold family heirlooms and memorabilia in a media room and they work very well for that. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if I needed more shelves.

Definitely worth the money, looks amazing!
I have a few smaller bookshelves but they were overflowing so I knew I needed to start thinking bigger. Usually I’m uneasy about spending money on furniture before seeing it but Covid made that a bit difficult. It was quick to assemble and didn’t feel terribly sturdy but once I got some books on it, it felt solid. The height is lovely and the shelves are deep enough that I can have my larger Lego sets on top (I build the big cars).I’ll actually be buying another one to replace my other bookshelves.Highly recommend. One “con” (I don’t know if you can even call it that), the box is HEAVY. I live on the third floor and without the elevator I would have had a heck of a time getting it up the stairs and I definitely wouldn’t have been able to lift it. Dragging it definitely wasn’t fun either
