I wanted some locking devices for my sliding barn doors that would go with our theme. These looked like they would match. Wow was I supposed when they arrived. The little box was heavy. I forgot they were iron. I fell in love with them when I opened the box. Not only do they look nice but they have a hinge/ swivel designs that I have never seen before. It's a very strong design and when latched I would put it up against a dead bolt if installed properly. As far as in still it's same as your basic hook and eye set up but with no and I mean no sloping around. The hook fits tight into the eye witch is a perfect fit. I posted several pictures hopefully they will show what I was trying to explain. I'm just so impressed with what they did with this ancient but simple design and improved on it so well . If your looking for a good looking simple easy to install locking device this is it. Hope this will help.

We purchased this hook in order to hold the door open just enough for the cats to get to their food and litter box, without the dogs doing the same thing. It’s perfect on the sliding barn door. This is a really well made latching hook that swings in several directions. We can use it dozens of times a day and it is just not showing any signs of strain or wear. Our daughter’s huge husky shepherd mix didn’t break it or get by it. I will wholeheartedly recommend them and need to buy more.

I like the sturdy design of these, but they came with a very gritty abrasive surface. I cannot see what this could possibly lend to the utility of these, but I could seeds how it could mar the surface of any door or cabinet. I wrote to ask what to do. I wanted to sand them with very fine sandpaper. It was suggested I not sand them, but rather spray on a clear coat. That seemed like a messy task and one that could gum up the moving parts. I chose to sand them by hand with 1000 grit sandpaper and it's worked fine.

I like that it looked old as my home was built in 1890.However the arm is too long for me but I will keep it for future use

We just bought a 16' X 10' shed, very nice looks like a small house and has two windows with white grate pattern and screens for Summer use. It has double shed doors that have black strap hinges. The doors only had a rubber bumper to keep the doors from hitting the shed walls. It's windy where we live, so I bought these eye and hooks to secure the doors in the open position. They came very quickly and look great. The hook fits snugly in the eye and will not pop out unexpectedly like cheap hardware store types often do. Nice coating and matches our original hardware.

The size and style are great for artistic gates, etc. However, the hook bend is not 90 degrees, but more like 110, which makes it not fit completely into the hook receptor. It does still hold enough to keep the gate closed, however. In addition, it is not 100% rust proof, though a good jot of Rustoleum fixes this.
