Good quality. Sharp whistle. Light weight. Fortunately haven't had to use it yet.

Don't blast this right off the bat. It is LOUD!! My niece is a hiker, so I believe she could use this. The lanyard is long so you can hang it discreetly around your neck, or loop it onto something. It's a small thing, 3/8ths wide, 1 1/2 inches long. Thick heavy metal so if it gets stepped on, the most damage will be scratches. Well worth the price.
