Learning to play guitar is a long journey.
I am an intermediate level acoustic guitar player ,focused on playing country and bluegrass music.I am impressed with the lessons I saw in this new book ‘The Blues Guitar In 14 days by Troy Nelson. The only downside is we don’t have the video cds for learning how to practice each of these lessons. I have begun to learn playing the lessons from Day1 on my acoustic guitar by listening to the audio files which I have downloaded on my computer.

Good concept but not for beginners
Everyone learns differently, for me the concept of structured lessons with X amount of time on each one works really well. The author himself points out that you don't have to give the full 90 minutes per day to the lessons, rather you can allocate a shorter time and repeat the whole lot, if you wish. So there are a lot if good points. The embedded audio is great also, there's nothing worse than having to move away from your kindle to find something to play downloaded audio examples. The bad point for me is how quickly the learning curve rises, by day 3 I was struggling, and I've been playing for a while (although I'm not a great player by any means). But I found it very off-putting that the licks were so far beyond me, so quickly. Maybe that's my perfectionist streak? I suppose you could do your best with them and then repeat the whole process a few times.Bottom line, nice concept, embedded audio a major plus, best suited to an intermediate player (one who is comfortable with hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides etc). The 90 minutes a day is unrealistic for most people, but shorten your time and you've got a good, but challenging learning programme.
