What are the requirments for the track to be remote controled?

To move the "points" (British term) you would need a switch motor (point motor) mounted under the layout or alongside the track by the points. Two motors, in this case. Also, electrical wire from the point motor to a switch on your control panel and this switch needs to have a power source to power the point motor. The American term is DPDT (double pole, double throw). You also need to wire DC power to the track. I would suggest checking the PECO website, as PECO makes all the parts needed. Also, the British magazine Railway Modeler has a very good website, and publishes "how to do it" articles from time to time. The publisher of the American magazine Model Railroader has several beginning level DIY books on wiring for HO which may be sourced via mail. Check their website also. I would suggest Internet research, acquire the bits and bobs required and do a "trial" on a single piece of board to get the feel of what is required for remote control of points.

what are the dimensions

Longest overall is the length of 10" (25.4cm). To clear both switch (point) operating rods allow 2.5" (6.35cm) side to side. I have installed two of these on my micro "Inglenook Style" switching layout (US Prototype) and have found them very reliable.
