American Accent Training: Grammar with Online Audio

What's the difference between this grammar book and all the other classroom grammar books out there that we all endured in the past?? Well, classroom grammar books help me ace in grammar written tests, but I still make simple elementary level grammatical mistakes like gender confusion and singular/ plural confusion. This gives out a very wrong impression of your English level to anyone. Well, this book solves the problem. It focuses on teaching you to use the correct grammar while speaking without memorizing all the rules. Audio lessons are great too. The most important of all, grammar is boring and dry, this book is not.

I bought this book for myself, but I found that this book is for beginers or people with intermediate level of english. Its main focus is on grammar, but at the same time you can learn pronunciation by repeating the audio and reading the text, plus you will find tricks on how to pronounce those words easily and it comes with 2 cd's. To make my review shorter I want to say that I gave this book away to my boss and he's so happy about it, I wished I could've taken a picture at that moment, he was like a kid with a new toy. He told me eventually that this book has been a great help towards working on his english.

I chose this rating because the book is an excellent resource for an intermediate ESL student. I like the way the lessons are laid out to incorporate pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. It can serve as a review or for new learning. The curriculum on page xiv gives the instructor a good map to pace the learning.

I was in trouble with English grammar and pronunciation, I tried to find many book to help me solve that problem and I found this book in my school library. I read the book then realized that I need a matching book for myself because I couldn't highlight/write in book or borrow that from library for a long time. The book is written clearly and easy to understand, it helps me pronouce, speak easier and I can improve my English grammar. The package is good but some fold in corner makes the book unperfected. By the way, the book is still good and thank you Amazon :)

No audio cd provided

Well structured with good explanations. There are practice exercises in the book and the audio quality is professional. I use this book and her other book together to teach my Korean students English.

I consider this book a very helpful tool for all those that had learned English as a second language because most of the times we just listen, write and spell well but our pronunciation is not good. Plus, we learn the formal language, speaking slowly and we need to practice and that's when the cds are our best help.

Adorei o livro. A proposta da autora é muito interessante e serve tanto para iniciantes, quanto para aqueles que têm maior bagagem da língua inglesa. Recomendo!

当Amazon (co.jp 及び.com)で”American Accent Training”を知り、著者による解説CD５枚付ということで書籍を読まなくても聞きながら学習ができそうなので興味を持ちました。 続編として2009年出版の本書”〜: Grammar”があるのを知り、こちらはCD２枚ですが自分にとっては基本的な発音の解説はなくてもよかったのとGrammar の復習ができそうだったのでこちらを購入。 本書の目的とするAmerican Accentとは自分は”アメリカ訛り”と誤解していましたが、メディアやエンターティンメント業界での世界的主流である「北米標準語」のことです。そして本書でのGrammarは単に文法規則事項の学習ではなく、論理的に話すためにことばの組み立てかた(語法)を理解するというものです。 文字で見ると練習例文はほとんど簡単な文章ばかりですが、文字を見ずにAmerican Accentで聴いて理解できるかが最初の課題になるでしょう。 解説文もシンプルで論理的でわかりやすい文章です。 （あくまで個人の感想です。―何か通販のコメントみたいですが―そうでした。） Audio CD２枚付きで正味250ページ(練習問題解答ページを除く)のボリュームで建値$24.99、実勢価格は変わるでしょうが自分の場合はAmazon.co.jpが最もお得でした。

In diesem Buch werden Übungen für Grammatik mit Übungen für die Aussprache kombiniert. Das ist eine etwas ungewöhnliche Idee. Es macht Spaß, nicht nur eintönige Grammatikübungen zu machen, sondern gleichzeitig die Aussprache zu verbessern. So schlägt man zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe.
