excellent quality cage for dwarf hamsters
I decided to buy this cage as I got a dwarf hamster and had him in my old big cage and he was lost inside it! After I read the reviews on this cage I said I'd purchase it as it seemed perfect for my dwarf hamster! It arrived quick and easy instructions to assemble it and I must say I love it cage and the quality of it to the only problem I found was attaching the water bottle it's a bit tuff to put on but once you give the laps a foot pull it fits into place perfectly! Those of you that are unsure of this cage don't be its perfect and looks really well to you won't be disappointed for sure and the little apartment on top of the cage is just perfect for petting your hamster. My hamster loves his new home! I wouldn say this cage is suited for a Syrian hamster as they grow big and wouldn't fit up the tunnel to the petting zone! All in all this cage is perfect the price is perfect in fact everything is perfect with this cage! Thanks Amazon :)

Best small animal cage yet
We ordered one of these cages from Amazon after reading a review and seeing vids on youtube, so glad we did, the first one that arrived had a broken clip on the top which was obviously not due to delivery but Amazon made it a breeze to return and get a new one sent out to us in a day of reporting it, Well done Amazon!Well onto the review.... what a fabulous cage, needs some skill to put together but once you have done it once it is a breeze to do, some folks have said it is hard to clean this cage but me and my wife have found it no harder than the simple plastic cage that we got with our mouse....Just shoo your critters into the bedroom?petting area, lift it out and cap the opening with the provided stopper, put them to one side where they can watch you clean their house, clip the pipes of each side of the cage and unclip the two bottom clips the whole top of the cage lifts off in one piece allowing you to empty out the base and clean it down, the shelves just slot over the cage bars and remove simply to wash them down, we use a bucket with mild disinfectant in and separate all the pieces to wash, rinse and dry them, takes about 20 mins in total and the plastic is microantibacterial coated to provide better protection. they clip back together easily and if you expand the system with the critter trail expansion kits your mouse/hamster will love you forever lol. Also to note is that Amazon send out the latest version of this cage which has spring loaded catches on the doors and external water bottle and is much improved on the earlier version. :-)

DON'T BUY THIS CAGE!
When I bought this elaborate hamster cage, I was pleased with the excercise facilities for the hamster. It was easy to assemble and looked great.Despite many of the reviews suggesting it wasn't the right size, my syrian hamster was fine. However, as the hamster used the cage for a few days, it was obvious that the cage was unsuitable. The first problem was the fact that the hamsters natural sleeping place, toilet and excersize zone was the wheel. It dragged all of the bedding into it and it made a horrid rattling noise when it spun round because of all the poos spinning around in it. On top of this though, was the problem of the urin seeping out of the joining holes in the wheel and filling the tray beneath. The wheel was also very fradgile and cracked the first time I cleaned it out (which wasa a bit of a faff).Another issue with this terrible cage was the box in the roof area. For the simple reason that the hamster struggles to breathe in there. When I finally managed to persaude my hamster to sleep in the box not the wheel,it became wet and disgusting as wee condensation formed on top.Other problems include the size of the food bowl, the ease of cleaning and the low bars which causes saw dust to fall out.The hamster also escaped through the door of the cage because the spring mechagnism that opened the door can also be pulled down from the inside. The worst thing about this cage however, is the water bottle design. It has a bizzare rubber seal and a spring on the ball that makes it very difficult for the hamsters to drink. It is also impossible to see inside as it isn't transparent and the only way to check to see if it needs re-filling is if you un screw the top and look inside. The fact that water was not dripping onto the ball made the water difficult to find for the hamster. THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN THE DEATH OF TWO HAMSTERS who died of dehydration. This cage may look elaborate and cool, but trust me, my sister has a conventional cage, and it's a whole lot better. Stick to the boring looking, but slightly less deadly conventional cage.

wouldn’t recommend wouldn’t buy again
The media could not be loaded. “Run About” The product came with scratches and put together some things look weird like they don’t fit together. Since this was needed urgently as my little hamster broke her wheel in the other cage i didn’t have the opportunity to send it back but i would have. The cage is overall small and very hard to clean. The wheel (ball) is not spinning properly so as you can see on the video he started making a bed out of it. Complete disappointment. The idea of the cage is not all bad is it looks like he likes the tubes and the tower overall but the quality of it is a shame.. definitely not worth the money..

Pros cons
Well the item itself is pretty but not suitable for a Syrian hamster but a dwarf hamster definitely also not very sturdy and not easy to clean as you have to dissasemble the whole thing to do so it's a nice colour in all but just not worth it really better off shopping at Wilko's

Way better than I was expecting!
This product is a good size; not too small.Plus, it's adorable.I'll probably get the kids a pack of add on tubes, a hamster bathroom, and maybe even connect it to another small travel cage @ Christmas. It's really adorable and I'm glad we upgraded.

Hamster loves it
We bought this cage because we wanted to get the tubes and needed a cage that we could connect them to. Our hamster loves her new cage and hangs out on the slide alot. She often sleeps in her new exercise wheel. Lol. Very happy.

Not a pro nor do I play one on tv BUT...
This is a very nice cage. I had a small syrian hamster in the other Ovo orbs pictured for a little over three years. After he passed I ended up with....what I think are two robo dwarves that were homed together so I took them together. They are very active and I wanted them to have extra floor space. Well....I have had small critters over 40 years now. In the early 70s we gladly put a hamster or a gerbil in a 12x12 cage with newspaper bedding. Yep....totally not ok in today's world. It has only been in recent years people have begun making such huge homes for such small pets. To me that partially defeats having a small, easily contained pet to enjoy. I personally dont buy in to super huge homes as being necesasary. So, someone out there will say this is two small for two dwarf hamsters and I agree. The Kaytee Critter Trail One Level is too small for 2 dwarfs but attached to other parts it is fantastic. With it attached to THREE ovo habitat orbs and other pipes....all I can say is, I think it is a fine home at my house for my pets.I just really liked the idea of more venting....better summer air flow....and it seems they can recognize the floor space is different; not round. I didnt have a problem with the wheel it came with i just chose to use a saucer I already had. The wheel is fine to me for dwarves.Ok....so....cons. The vents make for more sound travel than the enclosed ovos. No problem....my set up is in a den not a bedroom. Also, to clean this effectivley....other than spot cleaning; an adult would HAVE to help a child, imo. I can tell the best way to clean this will be remove the whole entire top as the small hand hole will not work for that 3 week deep clean. But it was not too difficult to remove it. The water bottle is functional but i have chosen not to use it...more on that later. This is a "recreational room" add on for me and a carrier or temporary full cage when needed.Pros...looks fun and great. Looks really wonderful and whimsical to my adult self. I can see a child would love it. It was easy to put together once I understood how that yellow side tube slides in. If you pay good attention to sliding that in from up to down instead of trying pushing it in, you will be fine.Im not a math wiz....but floor space is more than in a single ovo and due to its rectanglar shape and it will be easy to put a little home made wood and dowel level in there....or even a big igloo type bed with a lot of top space. The round ovos are limited in how tall a thing you can easiky fit inside. There are options to suit anyone.I think...if you are jus starting out....two of these hooked together would be a nice home for 1 syrian hamster. I suggest two hooked together over something so large a child or adult had a hard time cleaning. If it is so hard and miserable it will not get done often enough. The quality is good in my opinion. I didnt feel that any parts were to thin or too bendable or too fragile. The size is manegable for cleaning and would be great to take for a several day trip. Or maybe to take to a shady area outside on a nice breezy day. Always be extra careful if course if you choose to do that. Air flow is a super nice benefit of this cage. The plastic bottom will be easy to wash.Nothing at all wrong with this home. It is colorful and easy to see in. The water bottle it comes with is my only issue. It would be hard for a seasoned adult hamster owner to monitor water in a blue bottle. Very bad color choice on the manufacturer's part but it is a ver easy fix. Unless you live on a 3 day schedule to help your tiny critter religously and are super used to that, consider another bottle. This is not an ok bottle for a small child. They need to see the water level much better. A leak could kill the pet if it goes long without water. Tiny Pets need and deserve fresh water atleast every 72 hours even if they still have plenty of water.Over all....I say this is an A cage IF you have one add on or more. Tubes are not floorspace....the areas with bedding or pine chips is floor space.Great product over all. Completely satisfied with this purchase. Sorry for the length; I just feel like my son loved it or I hate it are NOT actual helpful reveiws. I want you to know what an experienced hamster owner actually thinks of the product because I spent good money on this hoping to get many years of use from it. Thank you and hope it was benefial information to help you choose.
