They should be put into bait boxes so are unlikely to get wet, but they have a type of wax coating anyway so will not dissolve in the rain. They are ususally gone within a couple of days so don't get much chance to get wet!

Once ingested, how long does it take to kill a rat? Do I have to worry about them dying in my walls and stinking for weeks?

This can be a problem, we have had them in the roof and the smell was awful. Well I seem to have fed them quite a lot. refresh the bait every month or shake to box to see if it's empty. It does work well and you must remember to change the type of poison every 6 months to stop them from becoming immune.

How many needed to kill a rat? I placed 7 out two nights ago and ALL were taken, done the same last night and nothing has been taken this time?

Hello, This really depends on the level of infestation and how much has been ingested at once. As a multi feed this can take up-to 24-48 hours to work but typically 1 bag for approximate 5 rats however can remove an infestation of up-to 20 if evenly distributed.
