Are the bristles stiff and scratchy or floppy? I am looking for stiff ones in synthetic, so any suggestions are most welcome.

Bristles are neither stiff/scratchy nor floppy. Rather they are soft and smooth with a good spine. In my opinion, it is one of the best synthetic brushes in this price.
