    Not in very good condition

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2020*

Disappointed in this copy of Mega Man 3. Only because it was said to be in very good condition. I guess they meant the case, as it’s fine. The pins on the board are worn and were very dirty. After one cleaning, I was only able to get the game to run maybe 1 in 25 attempts. I wouldn’t mind, had it said poor condition but I have the expectation that even acceptable would be playable after one cleaning. After cleaning the pins twice more with an eraser and isopropyl alcohol, I was able to improve the first time success rate to 9 out of 10 attempts. So alls well that ends well, but it was overpriced for the quality I received.

Megaman 3 is perfection of the Megaman series

*by 8***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2012*

Let me start with saying what I say the scores are.Gameplay: 10/10Audio: 10/10Graphics: 10/10Replay: 10/10Control: 11/10Overall: 10/10I personally think that this is the peak of Megaman. Sliding was introduced in this game which gave Megaman a new way to play not seen before (it was taken out in Megaman 9 + 10 for some reason). With this new control, speed runs are really there, you can get under areas to get items with overall control being perfect. The main question people wonder about old NES games is, is it fun? Well, you put this game in your NES, you might as well just leave it in there because you will want to revisit this game any chance you get! Selecting any stage you want and playing them in any order was a fantastic idea. Silver Surfer had that idea, but I won't get into that game. All the stages are vastly different from each other with each having their own catchy tunes. I actually gave this soundtrack a perfect score whereas other Megaman games did not receive a perfect score. I love Topman's theme and Dr. Wily stage musics the best. It is so perfectly in place. This was the first Megaman game to have sub-bosses in the series. For example, in Topman's stage, you will run through the level for a little bit where you come to a stop and battle a large stationary cat that doesn't take too many hits (about 15 I think) and proceed to the rest of the level. The sub-bosses never took long to beat which is good because it keeps the pace moving rapidly. A very important key factor in a videogame is to make the player never feel like they have to sit there and wait for the game. That is annoying. Each stage has it own atmosphere to make you believe you are really where you are. The first Megaman game had a little bit of that, but not too much. Megaman 2 was better (particularly with Flashman). The bosses all have their own patterns that are very easy to figure out, but may take a couple of tries for first-timers. The nice thing about this is that they are difficult the first time, but you are not going to sit there and waste all your lives on 1 boss because you don't know what to do.Many people criticize classic games for "bad graphics", one note on that, that was the best they had when the graphics engine released in 1983, give them a break. The graphics actually are very well drawn and it is all bright and colorful. How do you get 11/10 on control? Here is how. The control is already perfect, but in this game, the programmers left the debug cheat in it that allows you to freeze animations. You can freeze enemies in place, walk off of the screen and not die, and jump super-high. Press UP on P2 to freeze enemies and bosses. Press RIGHT on P2 to walk off the stage and jump ultra high. Also, this is the only game with Rush Jet that you can control him 100%. In Megaman 4, when you call Rush and jump on him, he locks in that direction and speed. Here, you can change direction, stop, and sometimes go slightly off screen.Boss difficulties and basic strategies (best order):Needleman - 8/10, Throughout the level, you will get an E-Tank. If he jumps towards you, slide under him and fire. If he jumps straight up, he will shoot homing needles at you, just rapidly jump and fire.Snakeman - 3/10, You can walk in the just keep firing. You really don't have to move. Just jump over the snakes.Geminiman - 7/10, He splits into 2. Select Snake Search and turn left. Throw 3 snakes to kill the first one, then go fire happy to finish the second one.Topman - 2/10, He goes from side to side and throws 3 tops at you, jump over him, keep firing, dodge the tops, repeat.Shadowman - 8/10, Select Top Spin and use it next to him in the air and slightly above him.Magnetman - 7/10, No real strategy, just select Shadow Blade and shoot him when he comes near.Hardman - 7/10, Select Magnet Missle fire 1 per second, he will jump at you and dive. Avoid him. Repeat.Sparkman - 7/10, Select Shadow Blade and shoot him as he jumps around firing spark shots. After completing the bosses, you will revisit 4 selected stages to revisit where you will encounter some familiar faces which was the only Megaman game ever to do that! All the stages are stages you have played before, but vastly modified. Even now, they throw a surprise at you battling a friend or foe situation which is also very cool. The doctor Wily stages and robot masters of these stages are all so radically different from each other and different from any other Megaman game. Even the last boss was nothing like any other Megaman game. Note that in this game, Dr Wily is spelled liked Dr. Wiley. It was the only Megaman game to make that mistake as well.Final comment would be, if you have an NES, GET THIS GAME!!! You will not be disappointed. This is THE game to have in your collection. Almost as much of a requirement as Super Mario 3!

Mega Man 3 - Best of NES Series?

*by B***A on Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2011*

I think so. Here's why:1. Builds on Mega Man 2's excellent gameplay - MM2 and MM3 are very similar in a lot of ways, but to me, this game captures the Mega Man series in full stride. The new elements (slide move, Rush equipment, Proto Man, ability to save more E tanks, etc), aren't major, but they add quite a bit.2. Awesome Music - Even by Mega Man standards, the soundtrack is outstanding. My faves: Gemini Man theme, Top Man theme, Needle Man theme, and the ridiculously infectious Spark Man theme. Great in all regards.3. Enemies - A smidge less cool than MM2 in this department, but still creative and fun. Admittedly Top Man is kind of a silly concept, but the others are pretty stellar. The weapons you earn by beating the bosses seem more widely useful and unique in this game - every weapon is effective. I even like the top spin (some think it useless, but it isn't).This is a great example of why the NES is still cool: Tight gameplay, catchy soundtrack, and even some cool graphics (Shadow Man and Gemini Man have really trippy graphics for an NES game - very cool). I rank it in my top 5 NES consoles and first (by a hair) in the Mega Man series. Buy this game.
