Get this one, not the other one being sold on amazon
So there are two versions of this antenna mast on Amazon for the 1st generation RX300. This is the one you want to buy. I purchased the other one and it was having problems fully going up and down after about a year. My wife completely broke it going through a carwash, and again purchased the "other" mast being sold on amazon. That one lasted a month and a half before it broke off going down the highway, started flapping around, and nearly broke my side window. I purchased this mast, and have had no problems with it sticking. It is easy to instal if the plastic part from the you are replacing isn't caught in there. All you need to replace it is to unscrew the housing on the outside, start guiding the plastic part down the mast hole, and get someone (or use a stick) to hit the button to turn off the radio, and the gear will catch it to pull it down into place.

A little more work than stated but worth the effort.
So the idea for this is awesome! It really works/ installs just about as instructions state. However the only issue is you MUST remove the power antenna motor to unplug it. Otherwise the motor runs for about 25 seconds Everytime you turn on/off the radio, due to no power mast for the limit switch. Once you remove the trunk assembly and remove the antenna mast it's quite simple and works great! Hope this helps someone out. As this is awesome!

Great product but limited instructions
I purchased the conversion kit with the shorty antenna for my 2000 Lexus RX300. My previous antenna broke off so I wanted to see if there were any upgrades/replacements for the stock telescoping antenna. This fixed shorty was exactly what I was looking for but had to go on youtube to find out how to remove the existing antenna, and also disconnect the motor. This involved removing the trunk board, and side panel which has multiple tabs and some 10mm bolts. So to do it properly be prepared for some extra work. Once you remove the old antenna and disconnect the motor, you're good to go!

Great customer service - poor quality product.
I will give the part 2 starts but the seller 5 stars.Product failed after only a few weeks, The Seller was quick to respond to my complaint and sent me a replacement within a week of my initial complaint. Great sellerIt's possible I got a lemon but here's what happened anyhow. We'll see how the replacement fairs. The antenna worked great when first installed. This lasted for about 3 weeks. The first time I noticed an issue was when switching from radio to CD when I first turned on the car. The antenna began retracting before being fully extended. At this time the antenna did not fully retract. The next time I turned the radio on the antenna would not fully extend. I was able to get it to work again by turning the radio off and manually pushing the antenna in the the retracted position. After removing the antenna to inspect for issues, I noticed that the white plastic guide-wire had pulled loose from the antenna at the upper end. I re-inserted it and re-assembled the unit. It worked again for a couple of days and then the same issue occurred again. It would appear that the issue is faulty manufacturing in securely attaching the white plastic guide-wire to the antenna. As long as the guide-wire doesn't pull loose this will work great, if it does pull loose, it will not work correctly again.

Good product but more work to install
Just got this antenna. It works perfectly and gives great reception. I would tell you that installation is not as simple as you mayeel on utube. I took out the broken piece on my motor the day before it arrived and put the system back together. Thinking that I could just push the plastic teeth rod in and it would catch and I would be done with the installation in 15 minutes. It was not possible for me to get it To feed and catch properly. I had to tear the car apart and manually feed the cable into the motor feed. Once done and installed it works perfectly. Just be ready to do a little more work than you think. Considering the cost of the item and th cost that the dealer would charge to install a new antenna, the extra work is well worth the effort.

24hrs, cord detached from antenna
BAD: Lasted all of 24 hours, until the metal-shrouded tip of the cord separated from the inside tip of the antenna. It can be pushed back in and seems to "catch" at its attachment spot, but will come loose again with minimal effort. May be possible to address this by putting some epoxy on the tip prior to insertion. Regardless, this is a glaring defect.GOOD: Mast itself looks solid. Installed easily. (although in my case, first needed to access the motor to remove the broken off cord remnant from the original antenna)Update 2018/08/12: Tried JB Weld on the tip before inserting; that lasted for about 24 hours. Next tried some epoxy; that lasted a whole week! I suspect this approach won't work because adhesives can't get maintain a grip due to the smooth internal surface of the mast and/or the fair amount of black grime (lubricant?) that seems to be inside the mast. If the mast "head" unscrews (doesn't appear to, but I didn't want to force it too much and have it break off) then it might be possible to rig something more secure. But at this point, I'm pretty much done wanting to mess with this.TL;DR: just buy the "stubby" conversion instead and save yourself the hassle. Though if it does cost $40 more, which makes no sense to me.

Great alternative to old factory antennas
I really like the conversion one. It is well made and I will never have to worry whether the mast is up or down at the car wash again. The instructions are practically nonexistent so google them and watch YouTube before you do it. It is not hard but thinking about what stays and goes needs to be carefully thought out before you start. Which can save you some steps. I am glad I bought it and installed it myself.
