I usually trickle charge battery all winter. anything special have to be done before charging? will both batteries charge at once ?

I also trickle charge. I have the Battery Tender Jr. harness connected to the pos and neg of the main battery. This will send the charge through the one way isolator and charge the second battery. The blue light in the isolator will come on when the signal is sent through. If you put the harness on the second battery, the charge does not go through the other way, back to the main battery (from what I have been told). Hope this helps.

What is the set voltage that this activates

It varies depending upon amperage flow and timing. This is all part of True Amalgamated's PEP programming and is not disclosed by the manufacturer. If used in a UTV/ATV it would provide the service advertised. It will activate in the mid 13 volt level and deactivate in the upper 12 volt level and varies as explained.

Can you use this to completely isolate both batteries from being discharged from a parasitic draw?

No it will only Isolate 1 battery at a time.

It is advertised as model specific. will it work for a honda talon? where do the cables hook up? to the pre-run winch cables?

It should work with anything 12V. The wires are to connect the two batteries together with the isolator in the middle of the positive leads.
