Purple Heart Medal - Full Size

It looks good for display purposes, but has no pins for attaching to a uniform. You could use a single ribbon back to attach it to a uniform, but it doesn't come with one. I used it to build a flag case for a soldier who was KIA in 2003 and it looks good for that.

When I petitioned the US Gov to provide my fathers medals from WWII, I was sent a handful of medals, Bronze Star, European/North African Campaign medal with a Silver Star and a few other medals. I was not sent his Purple Heart. I was provided in the accompanying letter that my fathers records as an enlisted man were destroyed in a fire in 1972. It was as an enlisted man he received Purple Heart. While I have documentation from the Army, from the time he received the Purple Heart, the Army today didn't much seem to care or couldn't because it was above their pay grade, or whatever the reason. The fact of the matter was, they were not going to send me his Purple Heart. In building my Dad's shadow box, complete with the flag that draped his coffin and 3 of the shell casings from the 21 gun salute, I purchased this Purple Heart to place next to his other medals, his captains bars, the lapel insignia of the Combat Engineers.This Purple Heart seems like a quality piece and matches the other medals in construction. So I'm satisfied. Just family and friends are all that will ever see it, but it completes the project I made for the man I was named after. My hero, my Dad.

Thank you, for the replacement of our father's "Purple Heart Medal". I'm sorry to disagree with another purchaser's comment that the gold portion of the medal had no shine. Our father's replacement was in all ways an exact duplicate of his original award for having been wounded in battle during WWII. The replacement, as well as the original, has no precious "gold" (the metal found in expensive jewelry), and is probably a flat gold enamel paint. It is the same as found on the original. The medal is a "honorable" award or commendation for the service man or woman's sacrifice made for our country. I suppose, if they were real "gold" people would melt them down for their monetary value. And, the whole lot of them would not equal the sacrifice our father made on the island of Saipan. God bless you, for having helped us replace this notable part of our memory of our father and the man he was.

Got this to send to my nephew overseas. Description clearly states a presentation box is included. But it wasn’t. I just ordered a box (additional expense) because I need to mail it off soon to get overseas by Christmas.

Perfect for what I wanted it for.

It’s obviously not real, but was perfect fit what I needed. ☺️

I got this for a 50-year anniversary to give to my aunt for being married to my uncle for 50 years she deserves a Purple Heart.
