How easy are the pinless blades to change on this?

The pinless blades are easier to change that the conventional (pinned) ones as you fit a little adapter to each end of the pinless blade first and then all you have to do is hook it onto the holders.

When I bought this Scroll saw about 2 years ago there was no battery present in the design. I can only guess it powers the light, which on my unit is powered via the mains. Sorry this has not fully answered your question. My main observation about this Scroll saw is that the blade is very difficult to locate on the lower holder. I did a DIY modification to get around this. I am not recommending this procedure just comententing.
