Selections from MTV's 100 Greatest Pop Songs

This collection of music is lots of fun and for those who love pop music and want to play along. However I was hoping the music would be a bit more detailed, it is quite 'easy' - for those who are worried it could be too hard, it's NOT. It is really big and clear as well as being extremely simple melodies. For people like me who want a bit more detail, it's still good as you can add your own embellishments, play with chords and the left hand. It would sound great if you had a mate who plays guitar as it has the tabs above all the music as well as the chords. Add a singer to create the melody and you can go crazy on improvising the piano without losing any of the melody. Only thing is it is a REALLY THICK book and is extremely hard at first to keep the book open to the page you want as it keeps on closing. I'd suggest pegs or a music stand with clips, but then you can't turn the pages either. This kind of book would be better with binding with easy flicking and not always closing on itself. I'd recommend standing on the book with it open (I know it sound crazy!) or putting some telephone books on it to squash it flat, otherwise your pages are always going to flick back shut! :o)

fOR A COMPILATION BOOK THIS IS VERY GOOD. THE TRANSCRIPTIONS ARE MELODY BASED BUT EASILY WORTH IT. iTS HARD TO FIND GOOD TRANSCRIPTIONS OF VARIOUS 80'S AND 90'S POP SONGS. tHIS IS THE BEST IVE FOUND SO FAR

Are the book is very big and has a lot of great information in it the vast majority of music in it are not accurate to the actual song

Needs more Beatles and Tom Petty.

The sheet music and scores are not an accurate transcription of the recorded music by the artists. It's okay if you just want to learn the melody and see MTV's list. VH1's version is much better. VH1's list is also different where the songs have a different rating.

Too much page turning for a guitarist, and some chords are suspect, but it works.

Big selection of songs but some listed are not in the book. But it arrived fast and my son was still happy with it

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. Every song I tried in this book are off-key. When the composer wrote the songs, he/she made them simple to play at the expense of the integrity of the original song. I find it painful to play most songs, after hearing a few off-key notes. This book may be good for kids that are interested in playing songs that they have heard before (but the lyrics in some songs may be inappropriate for children).
