Is the bar mat pvc or is it rubber? the description says pvc rubber, but they are different materials.

The material is silicon, which is much nicer than pvc plastic or rubber. It is soft, flexible and shiny

Is this ok for several hours use on white quartz countertop?

Hello, Our bar mats are not recommended for marble countertops. As for Quartz, we have not had a reported issue, but I would recommend contacting the manufacturer and asking what they suggest. Thank you, Penelope, Owner

Title reads 18x12 but Product information -> Product Dimensions reads 17.72 x 15.35 x 0.31 inches ; which is it?

Hello, The bar mat is 18 x 12. The Product Dimension measurements, in the Product Information, are generated by an Amazon computer and are sometimes incorrect. Thank you for your interest!

These mats come with a definite chemical smell. I’ve washed them once and it is still there. Does it eventually go away? How have people handled this?

I may not be much help, but I really did not note a chemical odor and I do have a pretty sensitive nose.we have been using the mat under our kitchen coffee maker and have had wonderful success with it.- water previously building up on our counter is much improved.
