ALEKS Math for Beginners: The Ultimate Step by Step Guide to Preparing for the ALEKS Math Test

This really helped me with my placement exam for college

I bought this for my kid to review before taking the Alexs examine. She still scored extraordinarily low. She said it didn't help her.

I am an adult returning to college later in life and I have to take the Aleks placement exam to bypass several math courses. As it has been many years since I have practiced any kind of math outside of your basic addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, I figured I should study for the placement exam so I can bypass as many math courses as possible.The book is well done. It is 20 chapters long with 2 practice tests. Each chapter will introduce a concept, show 2 or 3 step by step examples on how to solve the problem, and then will have an end of chapter review with about 50 questions on average to help you test your knowledge.I have found that the topics the books go over align very well with the Aleks test.

Well, what can I say about this book. It has a lot of information and i can get a refresher on the problems that I knew long time ago.

It's ok as a general refresher, up until chapter 19 where the answers are wrong and the explanations aren't present. If you're average or below average intelligence or even worse at math than me, then you won't understand any of it, the explanations are lacking. The practice problems aren't hard enough.

Errors between the questions and answers makes for a real frustrating study.

I bought this to study with and refresh my high school math brain. It’s pretty good for the most part, maybe could be a little bit more in depth especially for circles and logarithms. But the trig functions section has a lot of wrong answers and also the explanations for the answers are so goofy and don’t make much sense, (probably why the answers are wrong).
