Gardner Bender GMT-318 Analog Multimeter, 6 Function, 14 Range, AC / DC Volt, 500V

A very handy multimeter with a swinging needle indicator. It is small and will fit in your pocket along with the two leads. Handy for testing fuses, possible broken or disconnected wires, etc. Just requires one AA battery to operate. For the price it is an excellent meter. You can also zero the needle before use with a small screw on the front. Great seller, fast service. I will buy from this seller again.

Already have Fluke and Universal VOM's (digital). Purchased this mini-D-movement VOM for pocket convenance, toolbag fit and voltages that vary.

I bought this to double check what I thought was a ghost voltage of 33V as measured by a digital meter that I had bought about 10 days earlier in a 3-way switch setup. Rather than spending another $125+ on a meter with Lo-Z, I went with this Gardner Bender GMT-318 as an analog meter (lower impedance, though not Lo-Z). This matched the hot wire reading of the digital meter, and it confirmed 0.1V for the traveler wire that wasn't hot.This meter's ability to measure resistance might not be good enough for some (Rx100 setting, and an analog scale that goes from 500 to infinite a the next tick). For the price, though, I find it to be a good secondary meter. This is clear by the product image, so I'm not going to hold that against my rating.There are some reviews about the battery not fitting well. I didn't have that experience. It's tight, sure, but I'd rather have that condition than a loose battery. For me, it was neither too difficult to insert the battery nor to take it out. The product description says that the battery is not included, so I'm not going to hold that against my rating.

Great meter for a low price, but the battery barely fits. It is EXTREMELY tight. This is why my last one broke; one of the terminals simply couldn't stand the pressure and eventually snapped. If they'd increase the battery compartment by even 1/16 inch, it would be perfect.

Been using this exact type of analog volt meter since 1982.Easy to use & compact.Unless you’re a professional electrician,this meter is all you need for do it yourselfers.

I've been using multimeters since I joined the Navy at 17 years old. During the war in Vietnam. I continued using them during my career as an industrial maintenance mechanic. Which involved A LOT of electrical troubleshooting!! Unfortunately I didn't use this one for a few weeks after it arrived. long past the allowed return time! When I finally needed to use it. I put in a fresh battery and set it on continuity and touched the lead ends together. NOTHING!! So I switched it over to D/C V to check a 1.5 V battery. NOTHING!! Then I switched it over to A/C V and checked a known hot receptacle. NOTHING!! I KNOW that Amazon really does strive to sell us quality products!! BUT monkeys really do fall out of trees sometimes!! So anything can happen!! Sometimes a piece of junk slips thru!! So I'd advise anyone that buys one of these. Actually any electrical testing device! To check it out on the same day that it arrives!! So if it's one of those that slides by! You'll be able to return it!!
