Reading this is making you check on your listening skills
With every situation you get the chance to relate to what it feels to be part of a conversation, both as a talker and a listener. The examples are also very typical and relatable which makes you process the way you actually listen.I think it's carefully and simply written which makes it pleasant to read until the end. There's nothing out of the ordinary, but the flow of the book really creates a compelling case for why should you revisit your listening skills no matter how poor or outstanding you are at it.I absorbed in a few hours and even if I had plenty of distractions around, I got back to it because it did not require a serious strain of unnecessary attention. Overall, enjoyable and it fit quite well in the picture of today (had to design an interview question set to identify challenges within companies)Thanks a lot!

A great real little gem of a book
I am just reading this for the 2nd time as I loved it so much the 1st time and want to really assimilate the advice from it. I am a "conversational narcissist" and find it very difficult not to bring myself, my opinions etc into any conversations I have. Patrick King not only explains why this is natural, and therefore forgivable, but why it causes problems in everyday life which I really could relate to. It also explains my frustrations sometimes with my partner who often "switches off" when I am talking at (not to) him. Hopefully I can develop into a more empathic listener, it's work in progress!!!

Good
This was a really interesting read. It's helpful in understanding what it means to truly listen and also highlights the challenges there are to doing this. I did think there were a couple of judgemental statements about people getting things wrong but the author dealt with this by acknowledging we are human and will get it wrong. Overall very informative.
