Casual Home 3-Shelf 27.5" Wide Folding Stackable Bookcase, Mahogany (New)

Might as well have been made of popsickle sticks. Fell apart in days.
Apparently it cannot handle the weight of normal sized books. It collapsed within days of assembly. Irreparable, almost impossible to return. Do not buy. All that money up in smoke.

High quality! Love that they fold down flat!
I have three of these bookshelves in my classroom. I love how they come together, and the fact that they fold down flat. That is very helpful if you have to switch classrooms! (Ugh!) They are very sturdy wood, so definitely worth the price! The picture I have is from when I only had two sets. I now have a third, but do not have a new picture. But you can see how nice they are from the picture! Definitely recommend! They hold a ton of books!

Great shelf, follow guidelines of 25 lbs a shelf
I think a few people on these reviews failed to look into this product enough to get how useful it is. One of the pictures clearly shows that each shelf is meant to hold 25 lbs and if you use this as a book shelf you will be disappointed with books on the floor. Also the reviews about stacking the shelves making it too flimsy...again if you use it correctly, it works correctly. I won't lie I'm addicted to these shelves. Everytime I come across a need for a small storage solution this shelf is ready for me. Just my style of assembly. The hardest part is unpacking, as this thing is packed super well. I have had 5 of these shelves for over a year now and just writing this review as I'm searching plant stands and thinking I will be using these for that purpose as well.

Incredible value for the money.
I first bought 20 of these in 2016 and was really impressed with the quality of these shelves for the price. I moved recently and don't have enough closet space so I ordered 7 more. I'm still impressed. Ignore those who say you can't stack these, you can. Just pay attention and make sure the shelves sit securely on the metal bracket. I keep mine firmly against the wall. I don't recommend these around small children though. I loaded mine down with Art History textbooks and they've born the weight without problem. These shelves are really attractive to boot too. They arrived well packed and with plenty of hardware. Really, I can't say enough good things about these shelves. I love them.

Attractive, Well-Built, Presassembled Bookshelf that Goes from Flat to Standing Mode in Seconds
These things are great. I have two of them in our house, and they both serve well for what I needed them for. They are medium height, meaning they stand about as high as your waist, and are sturdy and attractive, too. The really fanstastic thing about them besides the overall general good quality and good looks is the fact that the bookshelf comes pre-assembled, and all you have to do is pull it out of the box, remove the protective packing, and simply swing the ends out. The shelves then lever into place. It literally takes ten seconds, and that's it! And then, if you ever have to move it somewhere, same thing: just lever the shelves up, swing the sides in, and then the shelves drop down, leaving you with a flat assembly that you can place right back into the box in which it was shipped (note: KEEP THE BOX it is shipped in so you'll have it for the future, should you need to move it). They come in all different colors, and the price varies by color, so make sure you carefully check all the versions before making a selection. Both of mine (the one here and the light oak color) show nice, consistent staining, and really are quite attractive. Finally, note that, should you want to, you can buy a top shelf (separately) that really makes the unit complete. Understand, however, that this top shelf is nearly as expensive as the entire bookshelf itself (depending on the color). I have one of my units with the top shelf, and one without. The top shelf pops right on using the pre-fitted holes and pegs, and so this, too, is as easy as it gets. I will have to confess the top shelf does really make this a much more "complete" unit and adds visual appeal, but it is not necessary at all if all you are looking to do is get some extra bookshelf space. Five Stars.

DO NOT USE -- Unit sways from side to side dangerously -- KEEP AWAY FROM KIDS
This looks nice, but once the shelving units are out of the box and the shelves are unfolded, they're completely unstable. I mounted one set of shelves on top of the other as you are supposed to be able to do (the shelves have holes and pins to do that). But now the two units sway a full two inches from side to side. Do you want your bookcase swaying every time you bump into it? I don't. Plus, one of the shelf rests on one side is a full half inch lower than the one on the other side. So that shelf is not level, and it moves up and down on the bad side.I have similar folding shelves that are very sturdy and do not rock, so I thought these would be stable, too. My mistake. The main problem is that each unit requires a diagonal brace in the back (or a back panel) to keep the unit from rocking back and forth dangerously, but nothing like this is included. A horizontal piece of wood does not stop shelves from rocking back and forth. Heavy books will NOT stabilize these shelves but make them rock even more dangerously from side to side.I may try to attach a heavy wire diagonally (with a turnbuckle) to keep them from swaying. No customer should have to do this. Please, please keep these shelves away from children or they will fall on top of them. The shelves must be attached to the wall to be safe. And do not load them with heavy books or you risk them swaying and collapsing. In earthquake country where I live, these units are very unsafe. You cannot make a weakly constructed bookcase safe unless you rebuild it. This unit should not be sold as it's dangerously weak.

Excellent - Perfect & Stackable. It’s Love!
I highly recommend this bookcase. It’s attractive and functional.Simply remove the bookcase from the box, unfold it, place it in its designated spot and fill it with your favorite books, etc. I packed my bookcase full of art supplies that I’ve organized for easy access (see photos). This bookcase fills my heart with happiness and organized art supplies. It is a no brainer.

Nice bookcase
Nice bookcase. I’m actually using this as a catchall stand in my kitchen. It is sturdy, has three good size shelves and is just right for the spot I have it in. I would recommend this as a multipurpose piece of furniture. I have the little corner shelf as well and it is great too. The finish on it is very nice and it goes together instantly without any hassles.

Bad Design a Recipe for Catastrophe
Beautiful bookshelves. They match all of the other folding bookshelves in our house. The ones that are over a decade old and still working great, unlike these POORLY DESIGNED disasters, which just collapsed. One wouldn't expect a shelf built for books—with books on it—to bend sidewise and die, but it turns out that there's a fundamental structural issue with these units. See, normal folding bookshelves use screws to connect the cross supports. (I just checked.) THESE use weak metal staples. The strain put on the unit when one puts books on it was enough to weaken the support and send it crashing down. Compared to folding bookshelves from other brands, this manufacturer clearly chose the fastest, cheapest route.Do not buy. For the same price you can get units from other manufacturers that will last for ten years without incident. These lasted for a couple of months. I'm thrilled that they didn't just fall on my child. So thanks for that, I guess.

Easiest Set-up
Basically, you just open sides and fold down the three shelves that fit into place and you're ready to use the shelving unit. It's a bit wobbly. I have a similar 5 shelf unit that seems sturdier. Also, it doesn't seem to have any finish; it's like unvarnished pine... so I'll have to see how it ages.

Lightweight, Easy to Move and Sturdy!
I wanted something sturdy but easy to move and fairly light. This shelf is perfect! I ordered two and stacked them - I get 12 inches height between shelves, which fits most of my books.

Wobbly due to poor construction
Very Wobbly. Not very well put together. A good push and this will fall apart. I have one that looks very similar but much better materials and construction. Looks can be deceiving.
