Great For Connecting Your Bluetooth Headphones To Your Non-Bluetooth Desktop
When the pandemic first hit I bought a considerably cheaper dongle to try to connect my Bluetooth headphones to my existing desktop and the cheaper dongle did what cheaper dongles do and was a worthless piece of garbage. I did more research and bought this dongle which is considerably larger (about the size of a normal thumb drive, ~ 1.75" plugged in) it is well worth the space. All I needed it to do was let me connect my headphones to my desktop so that I could participate in my Zoom meetings, and this does that beautifully!I've successfully connected it to three different pairs of Bluetooth headphones, and connecting the Bluetooth is as easy as holding down the single button until the light flashes (~ 3 seconds) while entering pairing mode on the headphones (it seems pretty universally holding down the power button for ~ 7 seconds). The dongle has an easy to see LED that changes color to let you know the status, and a small, multi-function button that you use for both pairing and switching between call mode and music mode. Doing that is super easy, you just press the button twice to turn call mode on and once to turn it off, and the LED goes white when you're in call mode so it's really easy to make sure that you're in the correct mode. That being said, if you forget that you have it in call mode and try to listen to music it does only play half of the audio channels for the music so it sounds really weird, but as soon as you press the multi-function button it does switch back to playing all of the audio channels like normal. Call mode is absolutely fine for when you're talking to other people though, and you can't tell that there's anything going on with the audio channels if that's all you're doing. This dongle does auto-reconnect to headphones, so you only have to pair them once, which is nice. While I have the dongle positioned about 3.5' away from where I typically use my headphones, they do stay connected to the Bluetooth even when I walk upstairs, out of direct sight of the dongle! Finally, the audio quality coming from the dongle to the headphones is as high quality as the headphones allow, and the audio quality in call mode going from the microphone to the dongle is free of static or other interference as long as I have a line of sight to the dongle (it gets robot-y if I go upstairs).Overall, I'm really happy with this dongle! It does exactly what I need it to do and hasn't degraded in quality since I started using it despite using it nearly every day, sometimes for nearly the entire day!

Spectacular device for BT audio
So this product is nothing short of amazing (with a few minor caveats which I'll address at the end). However, in order to really get what makes this thing so incredible is to understand how it actually works, which I personally found a little hard to grasp from the product description. In fact, calling this thing a Bluetooth dongle isn't totally accurate, at least not in the traditional sense... it doesn't give your computer/laptop direct access to the BT radio via USB the way other dongles do. What this clever little guy actually is is a **USB audio device** that takes audio output from your computer (the way that USB speakers would) and subsequently broadcasts it over Bluetooth using whatever codec your receiving device supports (SBC, Fast Stream, aptX, aptX Low Latency, or just regular AD2P). This is the reason the device doesn't need drivers, because it cuts your OS's Bluetooth support completely out of the picture and relies solely on USB audio support, which nearly every OS out there supports. This is super helpful if you have an older Apple desktop or Macbook that doesn't support aptX, or if you want aptX Low Latency, which Apple has zero support for yet, at least at the time of this posting. And if you're a Windows user, well, this product simply blows Microsoft's shoddy built-in BT support out of the water! I myself have gone thru at least 4-5 dongles and never found one that worked flawlessly in Windows; they all had some sort of issue that required frequent re-pairing, power cycling, driver reinstalling, or physically replugging the dongle just to get Windows to play nicely with my various BT audio devices. Now the one drawback to having a device that works like this one is that you will have no access to pair or see connected devices directly from Windows/OS X; all the pairing is done via a button on the device itself. But you can pair multiple devices simultaneously, so unless you leave all your BT speakers/headphones turned on at the same time this isn't really an issue. Also, since it only supports audio out, this will not provide support for the mic portion of your BT headset. But I don't really consider any of these things flaws, as they're really just limitations of this format. The only real flaw I noticed is that the range on this is only a little above average. It's by no means bad, but I have seen better. But that said, even if your speaker/headphone do go out of a range or there's radio interference, it does a superb job at reconnecting with minimal sputter and with NO added audio delay -- I still remains perfectly synced with the audio source. All things considered, this is still by far the best Bluetooth dongle I've ever purchased.
