Do research for the sound YOU desire, but a great product.
It does a fine job for what I want in such a device. I didn’t want something that overly worked my vocals, just giving nudges as needed for when my pitch was not good. I like the options for the harmony portion and they work pretty well. I use such things on a quieter level, more for giving a feel of harmony being used than a full out effect. This is great for adding a bit of sizzle to portions of a song and creates a nice variation to the vocals.I was influenced by watching many reviews on line so I could find a unit that matched closer to what my desires for altered vocals were, I recommend anyone shopping for this type of device to do likewise. This company offers a number of units and I personally like the sound produced.

Loving it, very user friendly
Let me start out by saying that I am a gigging musician. This thing is sweet, I'm still tweaking it here and there but it is the best of it's class. I had the TC Helicon Play Acoustic, and was not fond of the all the menus and having to scroll through multiple screens to make small changes, I actually sold it after about 2 months. I was hesitant to buy the Boss after not enjoying its competition, but this thing is very easy to use right out of the box. Nice knobs for tweaking sound and shape. It's nice to be able to just reach down and make simple changes on the fly.The looper is smooth and seamless. I love how you can loop guitar, vocals or both.. I've already gigged with this a handful of times and it's passed the test. I have gone into a PA mixer with it which sounded awesome, and I also paired down and went direct into my powered speaker for a smaller gig,, and surprisingly sounded awesome. (The mixer gives you a little more flexibility for tone, but going straight into the speaker was very clear and sounded great,, and allowed me to carry less gear and set up a bit faster. All in all, I am very pleased. I will likely buy the extension pedal to make looing even easier.. but I am kind of used to the double tap to stop (that's how most of my loopers have been)The fx are great. Guitar is crisp and deep, and vocals cut through but are still smooth. I don't really use the harmonies or pitch correction, but the guitar effects (delay, chorus, flange) are top notch. Plug, Play and sound great. If there is any negatives, it would only be that the power supply is a little cheap feeling, I like a little heavier duty since I'm plugging and unplugging, packing up several times a week.Great Job Boss!!

Small but packs a ton of features.
I have used this unit a number of times on stage. The preamps are really nice and the pitch correction is particularly well done. There is no vocal clip or digital clues. The entire unit is very well done and also has a very sturdy build which will stand up to a ton of gigs. The stomp switches are soft touch which is great. There is no clicking or missed switching because of bad or noisy switches. I have a number of these kind of units but this is my go to rig.

Hey, it's a Boss
Boss makes great gear and this is no exception. I bought as a backup for an old TCH box and for occasional use for small gigs. I have to say that the menu and setup for this is CRYPTIC... The looper is single track and there's no MIDI so you can't sync it. It will use batteries but they drain quickly. Once you get it programmed you have to use it regularly or you'll forget how to use it. All said, it's still very versatile and good sound quality. I'll still need an external looper though.

I Really Want To Like It
I bought the VE-8 to replace two separate guitar and vocal looper pedals. It’s a good pedal but not life altering.Likes:• Auto vocal harmony. I no longer have to choose the key.• Guitar effects - the Chorus feature is nice, sparingly.Dislikes:• The double-tap feature to stop a loop is cumbersome. I tried double-tapping to the tempo of the song I was playing but apparently it wasn’t fast enough and it just kept on playing.• The 80 seconds of recording time is too short (as I found out at a gig last week). Once your 80 seconds are up, it automatically loops.• Clearing a loop that’s been stopped means the audience gets to hear a couple seconds of the clip until the pedal stops and clears the recording. Ugh.• The recording buttons for either guitar or vocals are very small making it almost impossible to choose one or the other with your foot.All-in-all, this pedal is going to take some getting used to.

and was thoroughly disappointed, despite the good reviews
I play in clubs, singing and playing an acoustic guitar (Ovation) as a solo act. I first bought the TC Helicon 'Play Acoustic', and was thoroughly disappointed, despite the good reviews. The interface was confusing, and I had trouble finding sounds I liked. My experience with the Boss VE-8 was completely different. I found it intuitive and user friendly (I would call myself medium tech competent). I use it primarily for the acoustic resonance knob which gives my guitar the 'body' that it was lacking, some vocal reverb and the vocal harmonies when playing live. I keep the 'pedal' on a music stand at waist level so I can make easy and fast adjustments between songs. I turn the harmony function on and off during the song with the external Boss FS-7 foot switch, and this system works perfectly for me. I also use some other guitar effects like the phase shifter which works great. I have not messed with the looper yet. Highly recommend this product, especially for performing live.

3in One magic
This device gives you voice harmony, guitar effects and a budget looper. Great device for the gigging singer/songwriter or hobbyist. Also, only 1 output 1/4 inch patch cable required. The guitar & voice are mixed to one output cable . This makes plugging into any open Mike PA very convenient. Great product.
