Moonology: Working with the Magic of Lunar Cycles Review: Pretty good - This is a decent book, but doesn't really live up to the hype, in my opinion. It's really a general western Astrology book that has sections for each of the 12 zodiac for full moon, and same for new moon manifestation, plus sections for each of the 12 houses so you can see where that new moon is located with regards to your ascendant. There's a generalized chart to find your ascendant based on zodiac sign and time of birth and that chart was off by one sign for myself, so don't depend on that chart! Or at least don't depend on that chart if you're cuspal with regard to sun sign or with regard to the time frames for birth hour given there. This is more like a zodiac + moon reference book, so you'll need to refer to it a couple times per month to look up the current lunations. It does give some good general astrological info...but here's the thing folks: ***the new moon is always in the same sign as the sun sign...the full moon is always in opposition to the sun sign*** I have explained this to dozens of people over the decades, and literally not one person I've spoken with about the moon has ever known this fact. This is discussed in the book, but in such a convoluted way that I don't think anyone who isn't already aware of this fact will come away from reading this book enriched with this knowledge. Really, a lot of astrology can be observed if you live somewhere with visible night sky and know cardinal directions, the constellations, and a bit about the planets. That's why fads in metaphysics come and go, but astrology will always remain popular; of course most people don't realize so much of this can be observed, and understood via observation. Thankfully there are many free apps and websites that give astrological info and charts for free. One big complaint is that this book frequently tries to drum up web traffic for the authors website. I didn't check any of the links because I have other resources for my birth chart and the lunar calendar. I wouldn't even be complaining about this except that several times the author encourages you to visit her website to get worksheets and other resources that frankly should be in the print book rather lengthy introduction and discussion them plus a web address. As for the content of the book, considering it is an astrology book, there are some events she discussed that are already out dated. So beware of that. Most of the info is timeless, cyclical stuff, so majority of book is not outdated. I get the impression the author is very well educated, she suggests some solid, classic resources like Dane Rudhyar, and she does drop hints of classical concepts and Biblical metaphors; however there's so much Aussie slang in there that I feel it's off putting to English speakers of any other nationality. At times I felt like I must have picked up an Australian teen magazine by mistake. There are suggestions for manifestation, it's a bit like "The Secret" so if you've read/ watched "The Secret" and know the basics of astrology, just ask yourself how that concept can be fit into the themes for the moon sign at that new moon and if you can do that then you don't need this book. I do like this book, but there's nothing new about the zodiac that hasn't been written a million times before, and nothing new about manifesting via Law of Attraction that hasn't been said a thousand times before, so for me this book didn't quite live up to the hype, but it might be just the resource you need if you're new or intermediate into astrology. I do have her first 2 oracle decks and I think they're awesome. They are the reason I bought this book, and I do plan to try and use this book throughout the year, or when I feel like I need to reconnect with the moon energy. One last note: I am not sure what religious tradition this book really falls under. There are a lot of suggested mantras and seed mantras, and correlations to chakras given. The author even states that Sanskrit is the language of the archangels! Sorry John Dee. There are also suggested workings with Goddesses like Athena. There's stuff about Ascended Masters. So in this regard it goes way out of bounds from the typical astrology book. It does classify the moon as having feminine characteristics, and never explains that that is not true for all cultures, but yet it tries to pull in some cross-cultural religious practices. Nothing wrong with that, I just want to encourage folks to please think for yourselves and not blindly follow recipes in this source or any other that have you calling on deities (Goddesses, ascended masters, angels, demons, gods, whatever) if you're unfamiliar with the entity don't go there until you've done some solid research. And the same with mantras and seed mantras in a language you don't understand. They can open up doorways in your conscience that you may not be prepared to cross. You should really have a solid guru or if none is available the knowledge will come to you. Again, no complaints with the author's decision to include these practices, I am only saying this, especially for young people and beginners, to use discernment rather than go off reciting and invoking stuff you're unfamiliar with. Review: Amazing info - Very interesting, kinda weird paper texture but has a great of info, I can’t wait to finish!

Insightful and a Great Book to Learn about the Moon as well as yourself
This book took me a while to finish but only because I took my time learning more about myself and how the moon can effect me. It's a book you can finish in one or two sittings but then you may not get the chance to make all the notes and learn about yourself. It's worth it to take your time, especially if you're not an astrology expert. In addition to learning about the moon, Yasmin makes it really easy to understand some basic astrology that can go hand in hand with the moon's teachings. As mentioned, I've made so many notes and this is probably a book I'll turn to for each moon cycle to discover more and see how it effects me personally. I'd recommend this book to anyone who'd like to work more with moon energy. Bonus is that you might connect with yourself even more.

Buy this book. It will change your life
Okay people lets get real. I've been working with the law of attraction for quite some time now. Ever since I watched the movie the secret that came out on netflix. Every now and then I would get stuck in a root and lately its been worse than ever. I never believed in the zodiac signs or anything like that. (I Still don't for that matter.) However I've become a tarot reader and over the past 2 years I've seen major changes in the readings that I've done through emotional Flux. What I mean by that is the energy it takes me to do a reading is way harder than it use to be when I was first starting and some of the emotional upsets and melt downs have freaked me out. I've had a theory for quite some time that the moon has something to do with it. You think about emotional upsets and being stuck in a root for some time like swimming against the current while the ocean waves are pounding against you and your just sitting on a rock waiting for the next one because you've accepted your fate and think this is just my life now. I'm a Capricorn not that that means anything to me. However it does deal with emotions and the things that I've been going through. In her book it talks about all the phases of the moon and the years of research she must have done using the law of attraction with the phases of the moon in conjunction to human emotions and how it can effect our life. Sadly there are more suicides and murders world wide on the night of a full moon than anywhere on the planet. Plus it effects all kinds of creatures in all kinds of ways. One thing that struck me was that she talked about each phase of the moon in correspondence with how a person could be feeling for instance a Capricorn could be acting like a Sagittarius and this is how to release that emotion at this time. I've been dealing with loads of different things like this over the past 3 months now and its gotten to the point where I couldn't make since of anything. But I've been wanting to learn to let go of pent up energies that I take on from peoples readings and get past them and move forward in my life. This book is loads of help. I originally just bought the oracle cards and I saw the Diary and the book and I bought all three of them. So next year is going to be a huge change for me and I cant wait to dive into this and see what I'm going to be able to do. Shes cleared up so many mysteries of how the moon effects our moods and how we can deal with them. If you think about it animals get more territorial during a full moon because of the instincts that were given to them. Its a defense mechanism all life has on earth. Why not take these phases and use them to the fullest potential even if its not your house sign you can still use that phase to work on an area of your life. Many people complained that it was like she wrote for a two year old. She was writing for people like me who have no idea about the houses and what they mean and is just getting into this idea of what it could be. I love that she is like Deborah Blake and makes it according to your religion not necessarily saying 'you have to be a witch and get in touch with this god/goddess in order for this to work young one.' I will say that some of her teachings are like yoda speech like with her oracle cards I'm going to have to learn how to work with them. But they are beautiful and so is the new 2020 calendar. If you would like to see me work through the phases and how I do it in conjunction with using tarot or even just seeing how ones persons emotional journey is going through this I do happen to have a blog which is Patreon.com/TinglesForTarot I'm going to be writing all about it and you can see videos on my youtube channel TinglesForTarot on how to use these through out the year.

I got this book about 6 months ago and have constantly referred back to it. Before I bought it I was worried that it might be full of typical new-age pseudo-religious goddess/angel twaddle, but it's actually very good! I think it helps that the author is Australian rather than American. Part one: why the moon is magic. Get in tune with the moon... Facts about the moon transform your life with the moon phases........details the timing of the phases and gives useful keywords and simple objectives for each phase. Part two: create your dream life with the new moon. New moon manifesting........very useful ideas about how to work out what you actually want and then how to get it. Plan your life with the new moon........ less about manifesting your desires and more about going with the flow of the new moon - how the moon "reacts" to going through the signs of the zodiac - and how you can make the most of these different phases. Predict your future with the new moon...... Gets more astrological here. A quick way to find your ascending sign and work out which House of your personal chart each moon is in. More details about how this effects you throughout the year. Includes; mantras, rituals, essential oils, numerology, chakras, archangels and goddesses (but not too much for us non-twaddle types!) Part three: work with the magic of the full moon full moon forgiveness and gratitude.....why forgiveness and gratitude is important. Bit new-age. Plan your life with the full moon.... each full moon as it travels through the signs throughout the year with things to think about for each. Predict your future with the full moon..... not as much detail as for the new moon, about a page for each. Part four: live consciously with the daily moon Where is the daily moon?....as the moon travels through each sign in about 2 days, this is quite hard to keep up with, but interesting nevertheless. Up close and personal with the daily moon..... the daily moon in your House. Appendices A-D, bibliography etc. A very interesting book. Quite thought provoking. My other half and I were surprised to discover that we weren't actually too sure what we wanted to manifest. It made us examine our desires and motivations much more closely especially with regard to his career. Knowing what you want isn't as simple as it sounds. We had quite a few little successes with the new moon manifestations and I shall definitely be pursuing this. The daily moon phase thing gets a bit lost in "real life" but it's still interesting to come back to every now and again. I'm pleased I bought it and refer to it regularly and there aren't many books of this type that one can genuinely say that about.

Everything one would like to know and understand about moon cycles and how to have a better life in tune with the Universe and with the moon energy as a guide, this book is the perfect reference for it. One does not need to be a practitioner or a follower of any modality to understand and experience this book. Simply believe in the universe and trust the moon energy.

Good book to read on understanding the moon cycles and such. But overall use your own intuition and wisdom and knowledge as each moon cycle may feel different to you (aka personalised) 🌈
