Perfect dictionary for work
This is the dictionary that is the perfect size for work or college dorm. I bought this not for the home but for work. It's a hardcover edition so it can just sit on my desk next to my computer. It's easily more convenient than having to go to the Merriam-Webster website, which can be very slow at times. Since getting this dictionary for work, I've used it almost everyday and have found every word I was looking for. Because it's a collegiate dictionary, it's got a nice reference in the back of the dictionary for things like signs and symbols and a handbook of style section. The paper stock is smooth, white and crisp. Each page is arranged in two columns, which I find easier to read than a three column page arrangement of the unabridged dictionary I use at home. For the price, it's a steal. B&N was charging $25 for this in one of its stores. I got this at Amazon for over $10 less and no tax!

Not from Amazon
as much as I think these are necessary, if it isn't purchased directly from Amazon, some inmates in some states apparently can't receive it. At least that's what I just found out ordering it for a friends husband. My son used to get used books this way in Texas, but idk if he can anymore either. If you don't pay the shipping, they likely sell it for profit maybe even the SAME books over and over. I've had that happen with brand new books that were about prison life. Prisons are owned by corporations with stock holders? I guess they don't want inmates to survive or get smarter.

Knowledge in hard copy
It’s always a great thing when you have a never changing hard copy to reference that defines words and their meaning.

Every day handy
It does not have everything, but still works. I purchased it to help with my education and it has served beyond that, especially towards my spelling, which has deteriorated much after much disuse. Would not recommend this for playing Scramble against the computer, though. Not all the words the computer uses are in the Collegiate. I swear that computer cheats!
