Alif Baa teaches pronunciation, reading, and writing of Arabic alphabet letters. Its online drills are absolute requirements for learning pronunciation if you are studying alone rather than in a classroom environment. Note the online content is available for 18 months only. The book contains writing drills and large spaces are provided for you to write in the (8-1/2 x 11 hardcover) book. I find this a *huge* waste of paper. However, I do appreciate that all the Arabic writing is shown in a large font which is helpful to students new to Arabic. I wish the Answer Key were included with the book but you must buy it $eparately...and you'll need it to verify your answers. I would give this book 4 stars for teaching method, 3 stars for amount of content, 1 star for illustrations (suitable for children while the book is aimed at teens/adults), and 1 star for the waste of paper.

companion website correlates better to edition 2. website hasn't been updated to correlate with this 3rd edition. Arabic is hard enough without having to spend more time finding which linked lesson in companion website is from this $90 3rd edition or from 2nd edition which i had to borrow - for free - from library! wish i discovered this sooner - too late to return!
