Beautiful
I have several ukuleles and this is definitely one of my favorites. The finish is perfect and the sound is amazing. I opened the box, tuned it up and it was ready to play.

Beautiful uke with a unique sound.
My wife and I have several ukuleles. This one (Kala KA-RES-BRS) is a real looker. The grain, finish binding, etc. are all excellent, as is the action and intonation. However, I am not crazy about the sound. It is OK with a few songs/styles, but not good for others. The resonator sounds like it adds a mid-range honk at the expense of some bass/bottom end response. I find the effect to be a little tinny-sounding for a tenor.After a week of playing, I'm finding aggressive picking and strumming causes some mild buzzing, but doesn't seem to be fret buzz. Try to listen before you buy. You may like the sound, but for me, the jury is still out and this did NOT become my go-to uke.

Resonator will grow on You
Honestly when I open the box I thought I would send it back, I own and have purchased several Kala Ukuleles and this one just doesn't show the quality of the others and it is the most expensive one I've purchased. But of course I started playing it before I decided to send it back and wouldn't you know it grew on me. Now I play it all the time, if you can strum the Blues on a Uke this is for you. It's loud and I now really enjoy the sound. Not sending it back now.

Great Instrument. Loud enough.
I sued to carry a small amp for playing with my guitar playing friends. This is loud enough on its own and has a very nice tone. I swapped out the strings with a Low G set and it is a ton of fun to play.

Nice playing, nice sounding ukulele.
I love the sound of this one. Want a little fuller sound, a little more body. Put a little pressure on the strings. You get volume with a fuller sound. Not just volume alone.

Expected a more distinct sound
First, this uku looks super cool. It's beautiful. I expected it to sound more unique. It's slightly twangy, but really it's just louder. For the price, i expected the sound to be better.

Sounds great. Holds tune once strings have settled in. It will be your first and last ukulele purchase.
