Frazetta Book Cover Art

I have been a Frazetta fan for 40+ years. His artwork is amazing, but not near as amazing as seeing him draw a picture. Probably best known for his book covers, album covers and Sword and Sorcery pictures, me was a multi-talented individual. There are several art books of Frazeta's work and a DVD called Painting with Fire.

If you already love Frazetta's artwork, then you know this book is for you. It was for me and it did not disappoint. Full size images for each cover and all your Conan favorites and some you probably didn't know he did. Worth the money! It will make you happy and content to leaf through the pages.

I love seeing all the paperback covers Frazetta was producing and very much enjoy his personal comments about many of them in the notes. I’m not going to ding the book publisher for the damage, but Amazon needs to do a better job of packaging books when they ship. Mine arrived with a severely crumpled corner.

I'm not sure what the low reviews are about, or what was expected of this book, but this is a fantastic journey through Frazetta's painted book covers, each one reproduced in large size in full color. Honestly, I've wanted a book like this for years and this one delivers the goods. Full details are given for each cover. I own many of the books whose covers are reproduced here and several of the reproductions look better (clearer, brighter) than the actual old paperbacks. I particularly enjoyed reading Frazetta's comments about several of the covers. If you love Frazetta then you'll likely enjoy this nostalgic book filled to the brim with awesome Frazetta painted book covers.

There are many books of Frazetta's art work out there. This book is not intended to show the best quality of his original paintings. It is designed to show the artwork as it appeared on the actual books that it was used for. The scans of the books look as good as the books did (which is not as good as the paintings themselves are). So you are getting a scan of a scan of the original artwork, and that is why some people are complaining about this book. In any case, this is the largest collection of the book covers that sported Frazetta paintngs. Some of these are works that Frazetta later revised, so they are the only way to see what the unedited paintings looked like.This presents a good history of his paperback work, which led to his eventual recognition as one of the top fantasy art painters in the history of the genre. If you want the best reproduction of Frazetta's paintings, I suggest the books "Fantastic Paintings of Frazetta," "Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta" or the Icon, Testament, and Legacy books (if you can find them).

I bought this for my son as a gift as he himself is a fine artist. Today he opened the book and was truly happy with what he saw.

Cant beat a book on Frazetta's art but this isn't it for art. this is it for paperback typography layout and art. I'm glad they didn't do the two page spreads that ruin all art books. maybe I got a bad copy but the art looked faded like tracing paper was over the photos. but anything Frazetta is worth a buy. Still waiting for better reissue of the original classic "Fantastic art of Frank Frazetta" series all collected versions that's out of print.

Another collector's book for all the Frazetta's fans who were waiting for the release of this book. The book includes a comprehensive collection of published book covers and paperback books such as the Edgar Rice Burrough's Tarzan book cover series, and adventures arts, the ,Death Dealers art covers and sci-fi book covers. Every page, totaling 167 pages contains at least one or more book cover arts.
