Randomly drops connections
I bought this to do connect an ECU logger and wideband O2 sensor to in my car to do stupid boy racer stuff. It looked really slick and comes with a double-sided foam sticky tape mount that would have worked perfect to mount inside the glove box and then only run the one cable to my laptop instead of multiple USB cables all over my passenger seat.Unfortunately it's not reliable enough for datalogging. The one I got was dropping connections at random where another shorter USB hub I had was having no issue.I returned it.Updated 7/1/2022:The company reached out to me and offered to send a new unit to replace the one I returned. I accepted and tried the new unit and it has the exact same problem of dropping connections of my datalogging equipment. This makes me think there is some sort of issue with their hardware. The combined baud rates of the two devices I have plugged in to the hub are WELL below what even USB 1 would support, so I'm not sure what the deal is.I don't have any issue using the exact same devices plugged in to my laptop using a thunderbolt style hub. I was really hoping that this one would work as the 5ft cable would make life a lot easier to plug/unplug than the tangle spaghetti mess of wires I wind up with when using my other hub.Maybe this would be fine for an external HDD and keyboard/mouse, but it's not going to work in my application.

Better compatibility than other hubs, but still has compatibility with external SSD hard drives.
I bought this HUB to replace another manufacturer's HUB due to incompatibility with many USB 3.0 devices. When I tested this HUB, I got happy because it was able to recognize and work with the USB flash drives that the previous HUB was not able to handle. But when I tested an external SSD hard drive, the drive is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting on its own. There is no stable connection with the SSD enclosure. That was a BIG disappointment. I even tried to apply external 5V in case the SSD was using more Amps than the HUB itself could handle w/o external power. I got the same result of constant disconnect/reconnect even with the external power. So, it goes back to ORICO.

Hub Works Well - Just One Annoyance
This hub is very similar to the metal clamp version, https://smile.amazon.com/ORICO-Aluminum-Splitter-Ultra-Portable-Expander/dp/B09289CSMN/ref=sr_1_4?crid=7VNTLBJ28ACX&keywords=orico+usb+hub&qid=1646776244&sprefix=orico+usb+hub%2Caps%2C57&sr=8-4, and works just as well, except this is in a plastic shell. However, one minor detracting difference for me is that the metal one has an LED showing on the front when the hub is powered up. This one has an LED, but it is buried deep in the enclosure and there is only a tiny hole in the top, such that you cannot see the light unless you are just about looking right into the hole. In addition, they include double-sided adhesive for mounting, which means the hole is going to get covered up as soon as you stick it underneath something.

I give up. First one defective and with the second one, the mouse was a problem.
The first one didn't work at all. Asked for a replacement which was shipped immediately. The second one appeared to work, but the mouse was jittery and was extremely difficult to place anywhere. The mouse worked fine in two other hubs. I gave up and returned both of them. I personally didn't like the very short cord which leaves the hub dangling with the end of flash drive against the floor. It said that there were 131 reviews, but there were only a handful of reviews to view.

It is okay
I thought I would be able to plug my backup drive into it so that I would have a free USB outlet on my computer, but when I did my backup drive would not work with Time Machine on my iMac. I have plugged in an external drive that works simply to access files from another computer. I like the small size and the cord length is quite adequate for my needs.
