Secure, clean connection—For the right hose.
I bought this to use with a TeeJet 6466 sprayer handle on my ATV-mounted spraying rig. I hate hose clamps for things that I have to handle. Not only do they catch on everything, but half the time I end up with pesticide leaks all over my hands. The Solo backpack sprayers use a kind of compression fitting that is not only secure and watertight, but completely smooth. It's a bit bulky, though, as it uses a 3/4" GHT (garden hose) fitting. I have looked long and hard for a compression fitting that I can use with my spray handles, so that I can get rid of hose clamps. Most fittings require multiple parts, and you're on your own where dimensions are concerned. This compression fitting has only two parts (most have at least four), and is much less bulky.HOWEVER: This fitting is tight enough that it will only work with a certain thickness of hose. It will not work with rubber hose, or PVC air hose, as they are too thick, making it impossible to work the nut over them. As it happens, it works perfectly with the 3/8" braided hose from Sprayer Depot. The picture on the Sprayer Depot website makes the hose look chunkier than it actually is. It's rated for 225PSI, and I rarely spray over 60PSI, so it should serve my needs very well. When assembling it, make sure that the hose is cut perfectly square, and sticking out past the end of the nut, so that the hose seats completely to the bottom of the barb, before the nut tightens down. I suspect that people who complained about it coming apart either had VERY thin hose, or did not get the hose all the way onto the barb. I cannot see how this could come apart, otherwise. The kit comes with a couple of pieces of Teflon tape, which is rather silly, as that is easily obtained almost anywhere (and most people doing plumbing work already have at least a few spools of it sitting around.) But I suppose if you're in an area of the world where Teflon tape is a rare commodity, this could be a useful addition.

Fittings work like a champ
When putting together these hoses I built. I read most comments and one stuck out. That it is painfully hard to get the outer fitting over the hose. Solution use a heat gun, makes hose pliable and easier to maintain control and get the fittings on.

good replacement for broken air hose crimp
tis basically like a plumbing compression fitting (absent a ferrel). works fine - inset hose. insert barb - u two wrenches to tighten and add fitting. fixed my reel right up.

Does not work!!
These will not fit a standard 3/8" air hose... the barb fits but the sleeve that is supposed to slide over the hose then tighten down does not..

Does not work for Rubber Type Hose
I got these hose ends to repair a hose whose ends had started to leak. I tried to install the ends on my hose that has a thicker wall than the thin plastic type hoses. Some people said they were able to install these ends onto a rubber hose but there was no way these could be used on my air hose. The hose was a larger diameter than the opening and it was physically impossible to force the hose into the fitting. If you have a thin walled plastic type hose these fittings would probably work great for that application but don’t bother to try to install them onto a rubber hose with the standard thick walls, they simply will not fit. I ended up ordering the Milton brand hose end repair fittings and even though they were still a tight fit, they did work and I highly recommend the Milton hose end repair parts for the repair of a rubber air hose.

Perfect fit
Works great, easy to install without leaks. It saved me from having to replace air compressor hose with just a few minutes to install.
