The Gratitude Jar: A Simple Guide to Creating Miracles Paperback – December 15, 2014

This really makes you think more about gratitude and the profound difference it can make in one's life! I ordered a couple of copies to give as gifts. Of course, it's just one in a LONG line of books on gratitude and they are, for the most part, all pretty similar. Be grateful and your life will be better. This one is nice in that it's a short, quick, very easy read. Would recommend!(However, all the profound things she says that her young son says throughout their gratitude challenge...? I question that part of the book. Those parts were a bit ridiculous and, I figure, greatly enhanced for the sake of the book.)

I love Josie's authenticity in telling her story in The Gratitude Jar." Because of her book, I renewed my commitment to write in my gratitude journal on a daily basis. It's incredible how this simple daily habit really does change our mindset from all that is wrong in our world to all we have to be grateful for. I find myself SEEKING out things to be thankful for each day. And of course, we know what we focus on is what we reap in our lives. Amazing!

I just finished The Gratitude Jar — which I read front to back in one sitting. Josie tells her story with unflinching honesty, sincerity and true appreciation for the gift of seeing life through the eyes of gratitude, with the simple daily practice using a gratitude jar (basket).The story speaks to that place inside all of us that sometimes feels hopeless, but reaching for some kind of Divine intervention. When her mentor suggests she keep a gratitude jar, I love how she describes seeing a chance to reconnect with her son in sharing this journey together, and then as a family.I love how she let gratitude open her up to see the beauty and gifts from life, both within and all around her —seeing everything in the light of miracles! How she let this simple practice of daily thanks, transform her self, her life, and her relationships both personal and professional. And she shows how gratitude creates MIRACLES in your life, and makes you a happier and more peaceful human being.I’ve actually practiced this gratitude jar for long stretches in my life and it was transforming. I’m not sure where I learned about it. For all I know, it was someone who had read this wonderful book!!!This is truly a book everyone will benefit from reading and applying what it suggests. I know I’ll be sharing it with everybody I know!

This is a really quick read. The book has a positive, common sense message about gratitude, and the importance of remembering to be thankful for family, health, love, employment, as well as, the many other blessings that we frequently take for granted in the busy, hectic rush of life. One of the things the book does well is to bring into focus all of the potential joy that we miss when we fail to notice the genuine goodness that already exists in our lives, rather than the constant striving for something more or something else. Life surrounds us daily with big and small wonders and pleasures, and yet we often turn it into a race or an endless to-do list. Books like this serve to remind the reader that in our haste to get out the door in the morning, we often bypass a beautiful view, a child’s exuberant smile or the unexpected kindness of a stranger. These moments can easily get lost or brushed aside in the hurry and worry of a typical, ordinary day. Robinson does a great job in emphasizing how essential it is to truly appreciate what is right in front of us and being mindful. Counting our blessings is indeed a valuable and worthwhile daily practice. I particularly liked that Robinson also had her young son participate in the gratitude exercise as well. This encourages creativity, empathy and optimism. My only issue with the book is the premise that seems to suggest that if gratitude is practiced, that prosperity or “miracles” will correspondingly ensue. To me, gratitude isn’t something one “does” in order to invite or induce a change in financial status or personal circumstances. Rather, gratitude is simply being aware of, and grateful for, how fortunate one already is.

The right book at the perfect time. I would recommend this book to anyone suffering and looking to find their way to a better life. You can't read this and not be changed.

Excellent book. Easy read

The book is so uplifting and encouraging. I’m going to recommend it to friends. My husband and I are going to do it together. I didn’t realize how much I had to be grateful for, just little things I would never have thought about. I read it twice on the first day. I plan to read at least once every week just to be thankful and grateful for life.

If you are in a funk or a negative person, I highly recommend this book and following through on the recommendations. You may not feel you are a negative person, but after reading this book you may just find that you could do a lot better in your thoughts.
