Very high value Hifiman headphones "UDATED WITH BALANCED CABLE(S)"
As in all hifi equipment additions, in my experience and opinion, the positive or negative results of inclusion into a current system depends on synergy of components. After a few days of listening to these Hifiman Deva Pro wired version headphones thru my Graham Slee Solo (with PS1) and Teac HA-501 headphone amplifiers using the Ifi Zen Dac V.2 as a DAC, I am truly amazed by how these $160 headphones involve me so convincingly in the music I listen to. Bass clarity and power add the foundation to the mids and highs and leads to a fine balanced sound that belies the Deva Pro's value pricing. Along with my Grado GH1's and AudioTechnica's W-5000's, these high value Hifiman Deva Pro wired headphones are keepers. So, one year on I have taken advantage of my IFi Zen DAC V.2's balanced headphone out jack by purchasing a Youkamoo 4.4mm TRRS to 3.5mm TRRS cable so to fit into the Deva Pro's left earpiece and run this Deva Pro wired "balanced". Hooked up, it took a good 12+ hours of continuous play to bring a truly "locked in" soundstage with a clearer and cleaner presentation than with the stock cables. And I've also purchased a TRRS 3.5mm extension cable from Devinal (2 in the bag) that transparently extends the length of this balanced connection. This balanced connection with the IFi Zen DAC V.2 elevates the HIFIMAN Deva Pro wired headphones up, up, up the performance ladder and has me not wanting to take them off when listening to either TIDAL MAX or even Youtube music free. This is truly a new experience for me that elevates my listening experience and leaves a smile on my face from ear to ear. FABULOUS...

Clear sound
I bought these mainly for the planar magnet technology since I believe such technologies provide a better sound compared to the traditional dynamic drivers. In fact, I have floor standing Martin Logan electrostatic speakers for my stereo system. I am not disappointed. The build quality is very good and so is the sound. The imaging and soundstage on particularly well-recorded media are also very good. My personal issue, because I am bald, is that the headband causes a little discomfort, right at the top of my head. The phones are somewhat heavier in comparison, and adds to the discomfort. But that is a personal issue. The cable that comes with them is adequate but I ordered a longer 10 ft cable that should arrive today. I plan to write a more detailed review after I had a few weeks to listen to them (I just acquired them less than a week back). I do recommend these headphones strongly. My only recommendation, to all headphone manufacturers, is not to make so many models that I find confusing and annoying. I think it is better to produce headphones which are optimized for the type or genre of music - rock vs classical for instance - because i don't think a "one size fits all" approach works. Again, keep up the great work Hifiman. I also love their design and appearance.

Get it
Pros: Better than the 400, not sure about the Sundara but review suggest both are equal but each have their pros and cons. Better than many of the similar headphones in this price range. Personally the deciding factor for me was the headband. Very comfortable padding which allows me to wear it for extended periods. Cons: No ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) No mic built in. Other: I brought this with an iFi Go Blu which can drive it fine. I do wish I had more room to work with, for the volume, but it's definitely loud enough. I'm an amateur and decided on trying this out before going to more expensive options available. I brought this, because I just wanted sound quality at home. I'm not using this for airports, buses, school, skiing. I play one game, that doesn't require me to use a mic. Instead of buying the HIMALAYA R2R version, I wanted my own bluetooth DAC that could work with other headphones that aren't wireless in the future. The HIMALAYA R2R form factor might not fit them. I'm happy with the purchase.

Low frequency or bass is lacking.
The detail in the higher register is very good. The low frequency is lacking greatly. I had to return this item.

No need for the XS
I really like the Deva Pros and they stack up very well against the larger XS which is almost twice the price. A larger soundstage like the XS isn't going to make listening to music and playing games more enjoyable if your ear has to strain more often to listen to sounds across the stage. The Devas sound stage is no slouch either, and with the right EQ configuration can provide a more enjoyable listening experience within a more natural range. With a 5.1 surround sound setting I was having a great time with the Devas. When it was time to game I switched to 7.1 and found the soundstage adequate. Do you really need a massive soundstage in your gaming? I thought I did, but the truth is you dont. Games and movies aren't designed for very large soundstages, so realizing that is when I started giving the nod to the Devas over the XS. When it comes to comfort, I was fairly disappointed by the XS headphones. The Devas are lighter and slightly more padded and stay in place much better than the large XS which would start to hurt require more adjustments to them as they slide around your ears. This is why I'm giving -1 Star, it's not so much for the Devas themselves, but HiFiMan not providing comfortable wearing experiences for their products in general.

Quality Headphones
Super quality headphones by a respected brand. Not quite as good as some Sennheisers for the price, but still a good beginners headphone.

Not as good as HE400SE
Sound weird compared to my Hifimen HE400SE. Wanted to try something new but sound way worse to me than my old daily drivers. I did burn them in and everything so it was a fare comparison.

Good sound quality for the price
Sound quality is great. I often reach for these over my HD600. They are bulky and not the most comfortable. I only listen with these sitting down. Sound quality is great. I'm not a bass head, but the have plenty of bass for me. I listen to rock, jazz, and electronic.

The sounds is great and loved every second, but shortly after 2 weeks sound started to become quieter on the right side before completely cutting out. can't say i can recommend something costing this much while being build like crap
