I actually run virtual windows on my MacBook and it even works on the virtual machine. The software downloads fine, and you have the choice of how you wish to save the image. I wanted this to look at old jewellery (to help my elderly eyes!) and it is spot on for that. Image quality is good. The included stand is a bit wobbly, but I'm getting the more robust stand which will totally resolve this. I would note that the multi-USB plug seems a bit tight, so I am using it through an adapter/extender just in case I damage my machine's socket. It may be a fault of my machine and not the built-in plug, but always best to be safe. Review: Stop straining your eyes... - Being a man over 60 and into electronics, swapping glasses all the time to see the tiny writing on components became a chore. searching the web I came across this microscope that seemed the answer as most of the time I would be sitting in front of a PC to use it. I wasn't sure what to expect for the very reasonable price, but wow was I surprised! it's perfect for what I want it for, easy to see the smallest details on a large screen and great for soldering small pins on a processor. Once you get the included stand set up it's good to go, the light is very bright and is adjustable, it's small size makes it easy to pack away in a very nice case when not needed which makes it very portable. Connectivity is good, the microscope will show up in Windows in the camera app so you can use it without installing further software. I'm very happy with the quality and it's made my hobby a lot easier. I would it. ## Features - Digital Microscope Camera: Connecting this microscope to your devices via USB cable, you can see the microworld image on your PC or phone screen. I could not even get the initial screen I was supposed to get on plugging the scope into my laptop. The instructions that came with scope were hard to understand written in what I call Chinese English! I visited the company website where 2 models of the scope were identified with 2 model numbers but the scope I received had no model indicators anywhere!? Tried both but to no avail. I emailed the company but they did not respond! There was an offer of a free stand upon request, I requested the stand it never arrived! Subsequently on realising that I have returned the scope for refund the seller emailed me stating they had not received my emails and offered a replacement, I did not take their offer!! **Q: Thinking of buying for grandson doing tree preservation. Is it strong enough to check soil samples?** A: I have not had any experience of studying soil samples, only botanical specimens, but what I can say is, the stand that comes with the "scope" is not stable enough to prevent "shake" when examining specimens. I purchased an optional rigid stand that cured the problem. For outside field work I would suggest using it freehand. **Q: Will it work on a Amazon Fire Kids tablet and can software be downloaded?** A: I can't say for sure whether it'll work or not BUT - the Amazon Fire kids tablet has an Android operating system - and the USB microscope works perfectly under the Android O/S, and it'll connect via the Fire's USB port (and comes with a variety of adaptors to suit the particular connection required). And yes, the software needed can be downloaded for free via the Google Play Store. **Q: Does this item come with all cables ready to use ?** A: Yes ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good image, and software works fine. *by M***T on 7 July 2026* Excellent value for money, and works on MacBook and Windows. I had purchased a very similar model from Maplin years ago but it wouldn't work with Windows 10 or 11. Hence I was a bit suspicious that this camera would not work with Windows 11 either, but it does. The instructions are basic and not easy to follow but with slow, careful thought I got there after a few minutes. I downloaded the AMCap software from the Cainda web site. The metal stand is too lightweight too hold the camera steady so I ordered a couple of 75 mm x 3 mm steel discs from eBay to glue onto the base. Another problem is that the clamp screw is a bit too long so the clamp cannot be done up tight enough to hold the camera firmly enough to the base. I will need to file off a millimetre or two off the end of the screw to get the clamp to hold tight. I will also try the Jiusion aluminum adjustable camera stand holder I had bought for 19 pounds from Amazon for my previous camera. I hope it fits. It looks as if it will. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image, although they don't quote the number of pixels which is a bit naughty. I assume it's the minimum. Having the micrometer calibration ruler is handy. The 8 LEDs in the camera can gave bad reflections off the shiny surface but they were easily eliminated with the handy brightness control with its on/off switch. The zip case is convenient for keeping all the bits together. I found with even on minimum magnification using it hand held I couldn't keep it steady enough. Also the minimum magnification is too high for looking at skin. So I'm going to buy a 10 -200 X camera. This is more tricky as there are relatively few to choose from and they are much more expensive. Considering the low cost, I am very pleased with it. I'll probably keep this one. ## Frequently Bought Together - Cainda Digital USB Microscope Camera, 40X to 1000X, with Metal Stand & Carrying Case, Compatible with Android, Windows, Linux, Mac, Portable for Kids, Students, Adults - Lesnow solder wick braid 10ft Length Desoldering Wick Braid Remover Tool Solder Sucker 1 piece No-Clean soldering Wick Wire Roll and Disassemble Electrical Components --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://chile.desertcart.com/products/449132631-usb-digital-microscope-compatible-with-android-windows-linux-mac](https://chile.desertcart.com/products/449132631-usb-digital-microscope-compatible-with-android-windows-linux-mac) --- *Product available on Desertcart Chile* *Store origin: CL* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
