No longer convinced this type of light pollution filter is very helpful
Even with adjustment of white balance, this robs too much true color, and doesn't really block as well as one would like. Plus, more and more cities are going LED for exterior lighting which means the blocking bands aren't as distinct as in the mercury-vapor days. Also seems to impact critical focus more than I would like.I don't think there's much wrong with the *quality* of this item, as manufactured, aside from the focal complaint which might indicate it's glass isn't installed perfectly planar in the screw ring, orthogonal to the desired lens axis. I have a bigger problem with its continued utility as a valid filter. Hence 3 stars as a 'compromise' rating.Save your money, spend it on gas to drive to a better darker sky site instead.

Doesn't reduce LED light pollution much, but is a good filter anyway.
I have used this filter with a wide-angle lens to take pictures of the night sky. It does help, but the use of LEDs in street lighting and parking lots has done a good deal to counter the efficacy of this kind of filter, which works on wavelengths of light emitted by sodium and mercury vapor lamps. Still, it helps suppress some of the ambient light from city sources. I've used it with an unmodified DSLR, and with a DSLR that has been modified to capture IR+visible+UV ("full spectrum" for increased sensitivity). This filter works fine with both kinds of DSLRs, and with the full spectrum camera provides a really pleasing and rosy cast to nebular sources like the Milky Way and Barnard's Loop (once you adjust the white point).

Very reasonable light pollution filter for wide field astrophotography
I have used this with my Rokinon 135mm f/2 and Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 for astrophotography, and it has given excellent results for the money. Highly recommended!I'm attaching a sample of a stacked image using the filter with a Rokinon 135mm f/2 and a cooled astronomy camera, imaged through a high cloud layer. (That's why Alnitak is so flared out.) And another example showing stacked images of the Big Dipper with the filter and the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.

Quality glass that cuts light pollution.
Great filter for cutting light pollution. It does make the night sky a little blue, but I tend to like the look and can always dial it back a bit if needed. It does not remove the yellow cast completely along the horizon, but back-to-back tests show just how effective it is.
