Excellent edition to the hue system.
Here is my review of this Hue tap from Philips. The hue tap is truly an excellent edition to the hue system.I have over 30 different light strips, blooms, irises and more hue lights and have spent well over a thousand pounds. While they are exorbitantly expensive they are also really good, and give a great effect. The tap is brilliant. I have it located in my on-suite bathroom, and it allows me to turn on the lights just in the bathroom, the whole lot on, slightly different colours or all off. There's lots of possibilties all programmable via the app. I do think the whole hue system is vastly overpriced but the are very cool and for the most part the system works pretty faultlessly. There's no need for batteries as it uses kinetic energy from pressing the button, which is clever and handy.I would recommend getting one of these if you have the Philips hue system. Thanks for reading my review

The perfect device to go with you Hue bulbs
The perfect device to go with you Hue bulbs. I had to knock a star off for the price and it's loud clicking buttons.I'll get the boring negatives out the way first. First off all I'd love to knock even more star off as it's very expensive at £50 and you don't really get a choice. You either get stuck using your device/phone to control your lights which just isn't practical all the time (may turn wi-fi off on your device like me and have to wait for it to reconnect before you can enter the room at night), splash out and buy this or opt for the dimmer switch which has nowhere near as many features. Besides this there are no other options and there really should be more to choose from. The button noises are a bit loud but this is justifiable since it uses the 'click/snap' for the battery-less technology to work. Not onto the positives which make me give this the high review that I am giving it. It was incredibly easy to setup and worked straight out the box after connecting to my beige. It is HIGHLY customisable using the Hue app which I absolutely love. You can set the 4 buttons to run whichever scene you want them to and control the lights or your choosing. It's handy that you can just stick this somewhere and twist it off it's mount and place it anywhere in the room to use, handy for putting next to your bed to use like a wireless light switch. Got to set the mood right lads ;).. You can probably save a decent amount by not having to buy any replacement batteries for this as it does not require any at all.Its amazing overall but mostly just let down by the price and lack of alternatives by Philips.

Discontinued product in 2020
Absolute waste of time, couldn’t get it to work, no replacement battery and seems to have been discontinued two years before I purchased it.Missed the return window as thought it was me, but my best advice is NOT TO BUY this as it’s no longer in production and stopped in most markets in 2020

A very simple solution to activating Hue moods as the mood needs
Using the kinetic of your button press to activate the mood that's set for the 4 buttons - the 3 smaller ones, and then the entire unit itself is great. Really helpful to get things happening when someone is visiting and doesn't have the app, or know that Alexa is poised waiting to accept to voice commands. Compact and stylish design means it attaches to the wall with the 3M take provided without any problems. You do need to push rather firmly, but not overly difficult to do - and no problems for kids or grandparents to use as well.Just bought another one for the media room which we've attached to the coffee table and makes dimming lights, or activiating the under couch lighting for anyone needing a toilet break from the movie to easily do it without causing too much disruption, especially as with the speakers playing the Echo dot in that room struggles to hear actions clearly.Really simple and easy to use, but try and buy when on sale as the price does seem a bit steep, but the use makes up for it - as long as you can remember what each button does. Philips Hue products are just addictive once you start placing them throughout the home, and this makes it easy to quickly do what sometimes needs to be done - a simple mechanical switch sometimes is still the best answer in a voice activated and smartphone enabled world.

Awful product
I have hue everywhere in my house, this is the worst purchase - buttons feel very clunky to use, and sometimes needs that extra push to even get it to work, just not functional and silly for the price

Not as good as the cheaper Hue Dimmer Switch
Compared to the Phillips Hue Dimmer Switch, I found that the Hue Tap Switch did less than the Phillips Hue Dimmer Switch but for more money. I understand that this is all software based and there will be improved functionality in the future. However, the Phillips Hue Dimmer Switch enabled us to assign 4 scenes to the on button (1st press, 2nd press and so on), gave us dimming up and down for current scene/setting and an off button. The Hue Tap switch only let us programme 4 functions or scenes in total (one per button) and if you wanted an off button for example, you'd only have three settings left to assign to buttons on the Hue Tap. The Phillips Hue Tap is noisier due to the kinetic energy generator (which is cool, no batteries!) and is also harder to use, it requires a harder button press to activate a scene and sometimes doesn't register taps if you don't press the button hard enough.
