Used in a sped class
I accidentally sent the teachers game home with the student. So this was a replacement. The kids love earning time with the game throughout the day.

Gave these to my grandsons for Christmas & they were happy with them.

Maybe 3.5 stars, but could have been so much better
First, I love this basic form-factor, like some older generation hand-held video games. So I was hoping this was going to be a much better experience. While the unit itself is built fairly nicely, it is surprisingly light. There was no mention of any type of flash memory slot or connection, to load and play your own games, and I was hoping this was an oversight in the description, but it is true. There is absolutely no option for anything other that the built in games. Which is what is the next disappointing factor. The games are all labeled with short names, so it appears as if the same game is repeated several times, for multiple games. But they are usually different versions of, the same game. I don't see a lot of value in all these repeats. You want to sell a device like this, the games need to be better organized, labeled and not just repeating variations of the same game. In addition, the connector for charging the replaceable battery pack, uses an old USB-Mini connection. Most new devices are already moving to USB-C connections for charging. Why did they put on a connector that is now three generations old! I want to carry fewer cables and chargers in my duffle bag when travelling, which is what I want this device for.Despite all my gripes above, at the $19 price point it is currently listed at, it is a decent deal for a small portable gaming device. Particularly for those, who like myself, enjoy the older generation games. And also good for small children whom might want to play games like they see other doing, but you don't want to have them handling your phone or tablet. That's another plus for me, as I use my phone and tablet for work and do not install any apps other than what is absolutely required. Thus another reason why I prefer devices like this. Otherwise, those who are looking for more modern games, this is not the device for you. If you are looking for something like I described here, then this could be a decent value for you also.

Great time killer, but the inability to save has it's downsides.
This device arrived right before Christmastime giving me plenty of time to test its capabilities. The screen is clear and is protected by a plastic film when shipped. I removed the film then put it back on because the screen kept fogging up. This stopped happening after a few days and I was able to remove the film again. It feels great in the hands except you can barely see the text at all. The labels for the buttons are near impossible to read and so if you needed to know which was which it's a bit difficult. You will however memorize which is which and it won't be a problem. The plastic is solid and easy to grip and protected it fine after an accidental and purposeful drop from standing height. The variable volume is appreciated rather than one with intervals or no adjustment at all. The speakers work great and provide clean (as clean as 8-bit allows) audio.I have been largely unsuccessful connecting it to a TV as we only have one TV that supports AV and it has not worked on it.As for content:There are 500 listed games. I would guess around 200-250 unique games. I tried to go through each but the issue with not being able to save also makes it so you need to scroll through all the games to get halfway down the page. You ARE able to go page by page rather than only game by game, but this is still annoying. A handful of the games are straight up just on the list twice but there are still more than enough options to keep you entertained! Most of the games are bootleg games and so there are some original game ROMs but most of them like Super Marios Bros 6 and many others are all the same game just under different names and with different characters but same gameplay. Many of then are the same game anyway. I don't see this as an issue with the people who made the device because I'm assuming they either bought a ROM chip with the games preloaded or loaded a generic collection of ROMs onto the device. It's just the way the world is. Sadly it does not have the big bootleg games "Donkey Kong Country" or "Somari" but it has the original super Mario bros and super Mario bros 3, Contra, Arkanoid, Donkey Kong, and a few other choice options. The battery life was tested and seemed to last around 5 hours for me. I have a problem, though that there is no way to tell what level the battery is at. There is a little LED on the side, but that is red the whole time it is charging (I charged it on a smart charger overnight to keep from overcharging it) and it stayed red the whole time. It turns green when the device is turned on so it... it lets you know that the device is on? But I thought the screen did that... anyway. Also when the battery gets low, the only warning is that the screen exponentially dims. It's unnoticeable at first but then speeds up until you can't see anything but the sounds still plays, and then that cuts out as well. And again, there is no way to tell when it is fully charged.Despite its downsides, it has a great battery life and plenty of amusing games to choose from. The lack of memory did allow me to get really good at Super Mario Bros 3 getting almost through world three in one sitting of under an hour. (world three kinda kicked my butt though so I got stuck there for the rest of the battery life) but if you stay in the game and the battery has not died, then when you die, the GAME recognizes and starts you at the beginning of the world, not the beginning of the game.Overall I would say this is a great gift to give a kid who asked for a Gameboy but you don't want to dish out the $300 or more on a single child. I enjoy the emulator and I'm sure you will too. If you're prepared to work without saving progress.

Fake games and cheap plastic
It’s fake. Very fake and fragile, it breaks really easy.

So. Many. Games!
When it says 500 games, it's not lying! I haven't even attempted to scroll through the entire menu to look at everything, but I can pretty much guarantee that there's something for everyone here. Most are old-school side scrolling / street fighting games, but there's also Dragon (aka Snake), block-pushing games, an assortment of Mario Bros., and many more. The battery lasts for a good two hours or so on a full charge, and it's rechargeable. It's also only slightly larger than a smart phone, which makes it the perfect size to toss in a backpack or purse for entertainment on long trips. My daughter (5) likes that there are lots of games to choose from. I'm not sure how it will compare long-term to the gaming I grew up with. When I was growing up, I had only a few games to choose from, so if I wanted to play, I had to figure out how to work through the tricky spots. Now that there are 500 games on one device, my daughter has no motivation to muscle through a tricky spot. If she gets frustrated, she can just move on to a different game. Some of this will have to do with the gamer's personality, of course, but I just thought I'd mention it so future buyers are aware.

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
This little mini hand game has over 500 games to choose from. I played Mario Bros and some other fighting game. Actually, it was fun and exciting. Reminded me of the hand held games from back in the 80s & 90s. Something that you can play with when on the road for long trips. Comes with a video cord where you can plug into your tv, and play it on there. Definitely recommend!
