One of the better jewellery kits on Amazon
I jumped at the chance to receive this jewellery-making kit for review. I make a lot of jewellery but most of the kits I am offered here are aimed primarily at children and contain beads that I wouldn’t usually wear, whereas this set is based around semiprecious gemstone chips which, whilst not being a really premium bead, are nice enough quality to make some relatively sophisticated jewellery. This has 28 different varieties of gemstone chip, each in its own compartment in a nice reusable plastic storage box, but it also contains plenty of other bits and pieces to help you get started. There’s a pair of needle-nose pliers, 3 different reels of wire (silver, gold, and rose gold finishes), 2 rolls of clear elastic cord, silver-coloured spacer beads and charms, and findings including jump rings, head and eye pins, ear wires and lobster clasps. It’s not quite everything you will want if you are serious about making jewellery, but it’s a very good start and even just stringing the chips onto the elastic cord will make some perfectly wearable bracelets and necklaces. The only reason I am not giving this set the highest 5* rating is that I have literally just reviewed another set that has exactly the same selection with a couple of additional items, and is priced slightly lower than this. However, this set is still very reasonable for £15.99 at time of review, and worth spending the extra few quid to work with gemstones rather than plastic.
