Buy An Introduction to Harmonic Analysis on Semisimple Lie Groups (Cambridge Studies in Advanced Mathematics) by V. S. Varadarajan (1999-08-28) by (ISBN: ) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: It arrived with a few pages bent, but nothing too concerning. The print quality is top notch, so no complaints there. Now, for the subject it covers, it starts making some strong remarks about the similarities and the very disjoint forms of working on, Representation theory and Harmonic Analysis. THIS IS NOT a book on Representation theory, if that what you're looking for, go back and pick Lang's book. Should you get this Book in particular? Well, it depends on how much you trust your basis on Functional Analysis and Lie theory, for this text, although it has appendixes on those subjects, they're not more than a quick reminder of some definitions and convenient statements. In general, for the subject it covers is VERY readable, notation is a bit cumbersome at parts, but I'd take it as a personal preference thing.
