Game changer

one word Awesome.Completely changes everything. Meets and exceeds my expectations.Aqara have produced one hell of a sensor. The Lux sensor alone, is the fastest I’ve ever used. And that alone would be enough reason for me to buy more.I have two of the original FP1 sensors, which I’m currently using and both have been faultless. Once setup properly. But have been slow to detect presence. So still need a additional sensor to speed up motion detection and detect Lux levels.Absolutely not the case with the FP2’s presence sensing and its ability to zone a room. The down sides. The WiFi 2.4ghz only. Which makes it tricky to initially setup if your mesh router can’t split the networks. So if your a sole android user. This could cause a problem. As a IOS user and HomeKit user I had no such problem. But the Aqare iOS app when used with this sensor is extremely slow to display the current position of presence.Which gives the end user the belief that it’s not working as expected. But when you switch over to the android app. Positioning updates of presence update in real time. So obviously a bug with the IOS app.Home assistant. HomeKit integration works perfectly.I was aware that the sensor doesn’t currently work with GH and can’t be exposed to GH via home assistant. But that’s easy to get around with a few helpers and exposing the helpers to GH if needed.I will absolutely be buying more when available

Reliable Presence Sensor with a Few Setbacks, but Pricey

I recently purchased the Aquara Presence Sensor from Amazon, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance. This sensor is a valuable addition to any smart home setup, but there are a few aspects that could use improvement, considering its relatively high price point.First off, the physical installation of the sensor was a breeze. It came with clear instructions, and I had it up and running in no time. However, when it comes to the software, I must admit that it can be a bit challenging to navigate. The setup process could have been made more user-friendly, as it took some trial and error to get everything working smoothly. In terms of sensing capabilities, the Aquara Presence Sensor excels. It accurately detects movement and presence, allowing you to automate your smart home devices with precision. One notable advantage over traditional PIR sensors is that it knows exactly when you leave the room, ensuring that your devices respond accordingly. This feature is incredibly useful and provides a seamless experience.I particularly enjoy the compatibility of this sensor with other smart devices. By using only a HomePod as a hub, I was able to effortlessly control my Hue and Nanoleaf bulbs. The convenience of not needing an additional Aquara hub is definitely a plus. However, there are a couple of downsides worth mentioning. One of the most frustrating aspects is dealing with the sensor's cable. It can be a challenge to figure out the best placement for the cable, and it would have been more convenient if Aquara provided clearer guidance in this regard. Additionally, it's disappointing that a spare USB plug for power isn't included in the package. This means you'll need to find your own spare USB plug, which can be an inconvenience if you don't have one readily available. The major drawback of the Aquara Presence Sensor is its price. It's relatively expensive, and considering its capabilities, I would suggest paying less than £50 for it. While it performs well, it doesn't introduce anything revolutionary to justify its higher price compared to other presence sensors on the market.Despite these minor setbacks and the high cost, the Aquara Presence Sensor performs admirably and fulfills its purpose of automating your smart home devices based on your presence. If you're willing to invest in its price and tackle the initial software setup, this sensor is a worthwhile addition to your smart home ecosystem.Pros:- Accurate presence detection- Knows exactly when you leave the room- Works seamlessly with Hue and Nanoleaf bulbs using only a HomePod as a hub- Enhances your smart home automation experienceCons:- Challenging software setup- Occasional oversensitivity- Cable placement can be tricky- No spare USB plug included- Relatively expensive for its capabilities

Excellent sensor but some minor issues.

I have bought another one….i liked it so much.Great presence sensor but the reviews that it can detect a heart beat are a little optimistic.1. It’s finicky to set up so recommend you perform a factory reset after initial plug in to start, then add it to Apple HomeKit.2. Make sure you have let it set up its AI empty room scan after a few minutes of the room being empty. It works great . I’ve smaller rooms to our American cousins so in the UK I only use about 1/3 of the available zone range. In general it’s fairly immediate but can occasionally take enough seconds to take 2-3 steps into a dark room before a trigger happens.I only experienced ghosts on initial setup and before the AI room scan was completed so in general it’s been fine detecting presence. And in general it does a fine job of not triggering a leaving event until I actually leave But……I have been able to stay still and empty room event triggered but it is quite hard to do.If for any reason you wanted the presence mode setting to keep a light on in a lounge even if you fell asleep, then this might still turn a light off.I haven’t tested or needed the fall mode or sleep monitoring modes.Regardless of the finicky setup and rare moments of it thinking you are unalive, it does work great and much much better for your home automations under Apple HomeKit than what a Pir sensor can do. 100% recommended.

Great when it works

I love Aqara products but this one is an exception. Upon arrival I excitedly went to install this and it took many attempts as it would not “bind” to the app. Eventually it set up successfully and I configured my zones etc. when it worked it was great but it kept disconnecting from WiFi or the home app and was so unreliable. The final straw was it not picking up presence consistently and turning the lights off when I was stood in the room. Returned for a refund and will be replacing with a P1 motion sensor which are much more reliable
