Decisions decisions
Volume five in the graphic novel series about two schoolboys who fall for each other. Just in case you've not heard of it before, go and start with volume one. This volume picks up from where the last one left off. It's a very big volume as well. In both ways. It's a little larger sized in terms of how big the pages are than others. It's also got a lot of them. About three hundred and sixteen. Nick and Charlie are firmly together. So what next? How far do they take things? There's also choices to be made re the future, as they won't be school pupils forever... This sticks to a formula that has worked superbly well so far. And it does it once again. It is surprisingly easy to read this and not think of the tv version, because this is beyond that as to where the story is. But it does all that it did before. Realistic dialogue. Solid artwork. And sympathetic characters. Everything moves along very well. Perhaps the best thing to say is that fans will not be disappointed. I liked how it did acknowledge how much pressure there seems to be on the younger generation these days in regards to certain things. Something that the tv version seemed to bring home. Without perhaps trying. There's a nice moment with one grown up character having a little epiphany. This I put down as being thirteen and up. Purely on the basis of previous volumes. This one does have more adult stuff than before and one bit of strong language. It does have one moment that initially I wasn't keen on, as it felt like a box tick too far. But this moment does actually give you some interesting food for thought about relationships. So I will happily eat my words on that. This could perhaps do with a few more straight characters. But what the heck. I am well older than the target age for this series, so that's life. It does though rather skip past one thing set up in the last book, only barely acknowledging it. Which was a surprise. But so be it. It does end with various extras from where to go for help with various issues. To character pictures and a timeline. Among others. This is not the end of the story. One more volume is to come. I am sure fans can't wait. I look forward to seeing how it goes as well.

Chock full of the emotionally beautiful scenes
๐๐๐๐๐ Its safe to say that I adore Nick and Charlie and their growing relationship. The previous 4 volumes dealt with coming out, failing in love, mental health issues and family dynamics. Through it all their friendship and romantic relationship has been the secure foundation on which they have grown into who they are now. Nick and Charlie are now dealing with being in love and the physical expression of that love. Their emotional feelings are rooted deep and lately they cannot ignore their physical attraction which leads them to broach the topic of sex, all while checking in with each other about what physical and mental boundaries they may have or are experiencing. This in particular with Charlie as he has ongoing issues with his body image. I love how Alice approaches these topics and how detailed her scenes are in showing how this can actualise for Charlie and that its not about how Nick seems him (as he adores him) but about how Charlie feels within himself. Charlie and Nick must start planning for the future and maybe explore the possibility that they may not always be together if Nick goes away to college. Nick has feelings of guilt over this as he doesnโt want to abandon Charlie while worrying, he doesnโt know who he is without Charlie. Nick is such a soft and caring guy; I wish I could give him hugs. Nick learns that he has to make decisions for himself and not always sacrifice what he wants for others. Charlie must learn to be strong and independent and opportunities to showcase these sides of himself are offered to him by both his friends and teachers at his school. This volume was chock full of the emotional and beautiful scenes that we have come to expect from Heartstopper as well as the joyous moments between the friendship groups, families and Nick and Charlie. Once again, a huge shoutout to Sarah Nelson for being the best and most supportive parent ever. She gets all the awards even if she makes Nick turn 15 shades of red with her frank conversations. I love her and will protect her at all costs. Highly recommend this book!! TW: Discussions of sex, body dysmorphia, mental health issues.

Book itself is in a perfect condition, no rigged edges or any ripped paper + to my surprise it arrived WAY EARLIER than it was expected. It was supposed to come few days after Christmas, but somehow they managed to deliver it anyway the day before! About Heartsopper. I love the stroy, it's one of those you can relate to as a younger reader and it may even help you heal from past feelings (it helped me). And although the series are free to read on webtoon, having a physical copy is amazing
