For me the book only served as a crosscheck for the syllabus and a course I've bought on Udemy. Some of the chapters are no longer relevant, but the ones which stayed are very well written and explained in a feasible human language with a sprinkle of humour which made the material graspable in one go. Other than that, the sample questions do not represent what is in the actual exam (the real questions are way harder), but they're an alright reference to check whether you know the very basics. The HELLOCARMS example is a bit of a slog, I recommend skipping it. This really needs an update, a 3rd edition to match the v3.1 of the ISTQB syllabus. But if you're serious about the exam, I still recommend the book to at least go over chapters 1, 2, 3 and some other (forgot which one, it has user story/requirement reviews), as that extra bit of understanding might tip the scales between passing and failing.
