The Escape Room Advent Calendar: Puzzle book for adults with 24 interactive riddles to solve while waiting for christmas (Escape Room 2.0 Books)

If you are good at figuring out escape rooms and brain puzzles, this is for you! The book is basically pencil sketches, but its very well done. The answers to previous puzzles sometimes give you help solving the current one. At no point did we ever say "Oh that was an easy one!" They are VERY challenging!! I got this for my 14 yr old son who loves escape room games and puzzles. Unless you have a little Einstein on your hands, i wouldn't go any younger than that. We started doing it together, and it took both of us and our combined knowledge and googling skills! It started out very fun! You open the book and each daily puzzle spans 2 pgs. Each puzzle has a QR code for clues if you're stuck, and to enter in the solution you come up with. You will definitely need to use google, and for some, you will absolutely need to get clues. Sadly, some got to be so challenging that we just couldn't figure it out and my teen lost interest. i had also given this book to my sister's girls, 14 and 10, and it ended up being my sister and her husband doing them with some "help" from the girls. I would say this isn't for just a casual puzzler, but for someone who's really good at working things out. If this applies to you or someone you know, i highly recommend this book. It definitely gives your brain a workout!

My 12-year-old and I love escape rooms and logic puzzles and we loved this book! Such a fun addition to our holiday traditions - even though the holidays were busy, so we didn't finish until New Year's Eve. The book includes QR codes for each day, hints (if needed), and a page for notes for each day. We chose not to write in the book so we can pass it on to a friend! The riddles are challenging and we needed hints for a few, but they were perfect for my knowledge-loving kid and I! We highly recommend it!

My brothers and I love escape rooms so I bought three of these for us to challenge ourselves for the holidays and have a little fun. Boy was I wrong. This was an EXTREMELY difficult challenge. Don't get me wrong, some day's I was fine, but most of the time I had to use multiple hints to even get close to decoding the puzzle for my day. Thank god for the discussion board online where kind hearted people would end up giving the answer, I don't think I would have solved the puzzle for the day. I never felt so dumb in my life trying to figure out these clues. The only saving grace was that my brothers were in the same boat. And they were not happy with me after a few weeks of struggling themselves to understand the puzzles let alone try to solve them. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this or giving this as a gift to someone unless you want them to hate you after a week.

Extremely fun. Great challenge. We were able to solve all the puzzles except one. There were a couple of puzzles where we did need to ask for a hint, but the hints that were given were things we had already figured out. That was frustrating, but we still were able to solve them anyway. I didn't give 5 stars because the ending for the story was extremely anti-climactic and a direct ripoff from other well known storylines. They didn't even bother to change the entities name. So, the puzzles were great, some super easy and some a nice challenge, but the storyline was a huge let down.

The best of the best, as adults doing this last year this was a great book that expects you to be able to google things and not just outright find the answer like a lot of puzzle games have, but instead find the information you need. We really enjoyed a puzzle game that wasn't the same repetitive puzzles you see everywhere but actually made you scour the internet searching for clues.

Was looking for a different type of advent calendar and this one delivered. The first puzzle was great - challenging but solvable - and I look forward to the rest and to see the story evolve. I know there was a hiccup earlier in the day but when I went to the site early in the evening, they had everything working fine. I know it's tough when you are excited about something and it goes wrong immediately but things like that happen. They seemed to correct it quickly which is all you can ask for. Would definitely recommend.

This was the best advent calendar I EVER bought myself. The puzzles were challenging and so fun!! Some of the puzzles sat with me for days after. I loved that it was a mix of the familiar and unfamiliar. I enjoyed diving back into history and science and culture. I am thrilled with this one and will be a repeat customer for years to come. Keep it up!!

I really enjoyed a lot of the puzzles in this book, and was grateful for an advent calendar that was geared toward my interests. There were, though, several issues with this book. First of all, as many other reviewers said, this is not a puzzle book for all ages as it is marketed, and requires a HUGE breadth of knowledge and Google to understand. When I think "escape room", I think that everything should be solvable from what I've been given... I don't think about the need for Google, whatsapp, mileage calculators, or NEEDING hints to solve some of them (literally, a few of the puzzles had hints that mentioned errors in the book that made said puzzle unsolvable). The book definitely needed more testers to ensure that it was doable and correct. By the end, I gave up and looked at hints a lot quicker than I would have had I felt like the puzzles were based on things that I could discern from the page. Additionally, I feel like more specific questions than "Whats the solution?" for each day would be helpful, as sometimes it was absolutely not clear even which direction one should go to try and solve the puzzle. With all that being said, many of these puzzles were super fun and really clever, and with significant improvement for next year I would absolutely try it again! :)

I love puzzles, I love quests, and I really loved this calendar. I solved four days of the riddles, and I must say this is incredible. I didn’t expect much from this calendar, but it amused me. Solving all of these riddles is really fascinating. I love the way the riddles are not so easy and not so difficult. Also, this is so cool that the website has hints. It really helps when you are stuck in solving. The calendar was not so expensive but gave me a lot of good emotions. I recommend it to everyone who loves games and riddles.

Ignore comments about the QR code not working, the servers just went down for an hour or so on day 1, probably due a high level of activity! The best ‘advent calendar’ I’ve ever had. I thought it was just going to be an individual puzzle a day type thing, but it’s not and it’s incredibly well thought out. Sets up with an initial story, which I guess you can take it or leave it, but I think it adds another level of engagement. Whilst solving the puzzles you need to use your phone / device to scan a QR code, this is then used for entering your answer and there are also hints available if you need them. Once you have a correct answer you’re then given a number which will later be used in further puzzles. The animations / graphics are of a high quality and it doesn’t feel like a cheaply, rushed together effort. The puzzles (so far) are logic based, unique and make you think outside of the box… or my in case, overthink, on day 2 *face palm*. I think it would be very harsh and unfair if the QR code not working for a short amount time were to overshadow the effort and execution of this book. If you like logic puzzles and fancy something different on the lead up to Christmas, don’t pass on this one. POV: Male, 31
